I like West as well. Undersized, but tough, active and experienced.Good. Something tells me he’s the prize of this signing class.

Yes need more shooters and another big or twoHopefully we have some scorers.
Strong numbers, but not even top 100 in the JUCO rankings. Could be solid though if his shooting can translate.
I haven't seen any film on him. Just little one highlight clips. Maybe I'm overlooking it when I search.I like West as well. Undersized, but tough, active and experienced.
Yeah I looked that up yesterday and am confused how he was an All American, but not even in the top 100 JC playersStrong numbers, but not even top 100 in the JUCO rankings. Could be solid though if his shooting can translate.
Hayes's (#28 JUCO player) teammate at Frank Philips College was the #2 JUCO player. A 6'10" guy that signed with UW. A package deal with thise two guys and the assistant coach would have been nice. Golding still needs a Center which he has never been able to get.
Didn’t play for a team that went 7-13 in conference play last year. We got a good one!
I understand as fans we just look at numbers, but I don’t see how a guy who only averaged 8 pts at a low level Junior College is going to make heads spin at D-1 Mid Major? Unless he’s a walk on and not a scholarship guy.
He was at Ok St last year, a bad team and he didn’t even play.I understand as fans we just look at numbers, but I don’t see how a guy who only averaged 8 pts at a low level Junior College is going to make heads spin at D-1 Mid Major? Unless he’s a walk on and not a scholarship guy.
Wonder if Golding can beat Texas East Commerce out for this guy's services.

Gosh I hope Golding didn’t give him a scholarship and he’s just a glorified walk on smh 🤦🏽![]()
Oklahoma State Sophomore Forward Enters Transfer Portal
Oklahoma State has lost a second player to the transfer portal this offseason. On Monday, reports surfaced that OSU sophomore C.J. Smith is entering the portal.www.si.com
No difference between a guy like this and DeCannon WickwareGosh I hope Golding didn’t give him a scholarship and he’s just a glorified walk on smh 🤦🏽
If I'm not mistaken rosters are expanding to 15, and walk on spots are going away . Scholarships will probably be given to walk-ons and NIL will be given to the real players??Gosh I hope Golding didn’t give him a scholarship and he’s just a glorified walk on smh 🤦🏽
Size has def been a priority for the Miners. Smith is 6'7" 205. Good rebounder. Probably good defender.

I mean it really doesn’t matter. If CJ Smith is on scholarship, that’s great for him. DeCannon Wickware was the last scholarship guy last year and he barely even played. If the 12th - 15th guys on your roster are playing significant minutes, there’s an issue. That's correct. There are no more walk-ons. But UTEP only has resources to have 14 on scholarship. So expect a 14 player roster and 1 possible walk on
News Flash! Golding can't recruitUtep is ranked last in recruiting rankings for CUSA. They are ranked 186. Utep shouldn't be ranked that low in basketball. What are they doing??? This class ain't winning no conference championship next year, doesn't Golding want to save his job?? There better be a surprised recruit somewhere??? I mean why bring Cox back?? Utep wasn't any better when he was here.
Why was Cox only at OK State for 1 season?Didn’t we just hire Jeremy Cox. Maybe he thinks highly of him
What’s the incentive? All he has to do is win 7 conference games and not finish dead last to earn an extension at UT El Paso.doesn't Golding want to save his job??
And there will be plenty of fans lapping it up too. What’s the incentive? All he has to do is win 7 conference games and not finish dead last to earn an extension at UT El Paso.
I can’t say for sure but my guess is that Oklahoma St wasn’t satisfied with a 17–18 record and changes had to be made. Why was Cox only at OK State for 1 season?
At least Golding is making an effort to get good players. I just don’t like to see us not trying for some of these good players.Don't have the link with me, but a local SA kid, Donovan Criss 6'5" guard, class of 2026, was offered by UTEP over the weekend. He plays for Brennan HS here and also holds an offer from Arizona St, so don't hold your breath on him signing at UTEP.
Criss also holds offers from NMSU, UTSA, Texas St, Mississippi St, and A&M CC so he seems legit on the talent side and I don't think he will ever play for UTEP...unless we seriously upgrade our NIL game.At least Golding is making an effort to get good players. So if Golding is offering a 2026 recruit that means he did get an extension . 🤨🤨🤨Don't have the link with me, but a local SA kid, Donovan Criss 6'5" guard, class of 2026, was offered by UTEP over the weekend. Bud that was confirmed when he hired a new coaching staffSo if Golding is offering a 2026 recruit that means he did get an extension . 🤨🤨🤨

We don’t need a 25 win season. All he really has to do is build a team capable of winning three games in the conference tournament. That’s it. I never saw him the way you did. I’ve just never been sold on the guy. But honestly, it’s not some impossible task. At this point, even Joe could stumble into that kind of success with the right draw.I don’t know why everyone is tripping and doesn’t believe that Golding and a new coaching staff will take bottom level D1 transfers and mid level JC players and win 25+ games and go dancing smh 🤦🏽
Exactly. I thought he might do in the 1st few seasons, but after the season 1 mass exodus and his poor recruiting it's been really tough. He had his shot last year. I think his time is up. Again we are just wasting valuable time keeping he and Senter. We should have a new coach and a better plan for NIL. I expect both to be gone after this season. We don’t need a 25 win season. I feel ya, but I was being 150% Facetious! I have 0 faith currently in Golding. You’re right I was in on him for 3 years and even gave him a chance this year until the slide and eventually falling flat on his face at the end of the year. I’ve vocalized that I’m done believing in Golding though since losing Big to NMSU. Maybe a new staff will help, maybe a new team will help, but nothing gives me any faith of even sliding into a Bid at this point. We don’t need a 25 win season.
