UTEP has a star in Jacob Cowing. Thats the promotion. His face needs to be on everything he needs NIL deals.

Right. Goes back to my point regarding Independence or FCS. The opposition has fallen so much, the names do not matter. Fans see no difference between ODU and Lamar.
Or UNM for that matter. Which why I know moving to the MW wouldn't matter either. The crowds are gone forever.
Yeah, I think $5 seats in the least popular areas to sit is the way to go for a while. At least until enough winning happens to get folks coming back in the 30k plus range. If they can continue to count on 15k paying regular price, cheap tickets might get you another 5k right away.
Also the cash giveaway is a good idea and maybe expand it to include Miner gear for those that don't win cash.
Funny you should mention Lamar. Homecoming during Stull coaching era had Lamar in town with 49k attending. Have 35k of those fans died/moved with no replacements?
There should be some $5 seats available, but that isn’t the solution. Winning on a “consistent” basis is the only solution. You can only put lipstick on a pig so many times.
The crowds aren't gone forever. We've went through four years where we beat zero FBS teams at home. During that time we only beat two FBS schools period. People want to see if this is a mirage. Two years ago we got 34,000 people to a game against HBU and the team lost 11 in a row after that killing all enthusiasm. That team was worse than the winless team on 2017.
If we win Saturday go down and beat a bad USM team in Hattiesburg they'll be 30,000 people for the La Tech game.

I don't think we will see a big crowd this season. If anything we will see a big crowd the first game next season. If UTEP can put together a successful season, I believe we will see a great crowd for the 1st home game.
I really do think the rain had something to do with it. There were even media reports that the game might be delayed in the second half due to lightning. El Pasoans aren't accustomed to braving the elements.
I doubt it. Weather was beautiful all day. Light rain in the 3rd quarter and that was all. Prior to UNM the last MW team to visit the SB only drew 10k.
Paid $5 and got to park within a five minute walk. I was shocked. I'm used to paying $40 at Austin FC games to park that close or $25 if I want to walk a bit more.
This post nails it!!! Nowins is exactly right. Most El Pasoans have given up on Dimel’s version of UTEP football and his boring and ineffective offense and lack of success. They know a skunk when they see one. They also refuse to pay ridiculous ticket prices for losing football when other entertainment options now exist. That’s why it will be difficult for UTEP to attract a crowds of 15000 this year. Senter more than doubled the season ticket prices for my family’s season tickets so I didn’t renew them. If UTEP had a consistent winner I probably would have made the financial sacrifice and paid for them, but I didn’t. I am also tired of throwing money at mediocrity with little hope for improvement in the future.

Always a clusterf**k. It was made worse last Saturday for season ticket holders. Whoever was the parking attendants manning lot SB7 on Sun Bowl Drive was allowing anyone to park there. By the time my friend and I arrived, of which he has the parking pass, the lot was closed off because they were already full. I told him to email Senter to complain about this. Don't know if he ever did or received a response back, as he's been out of town this week. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
I remember those days as an undergrad, working the parking lots for a football game. Sometimes you got lucky and got a great lot with people that gave you food and drink from their tail gate party. Other times you were stuck in the middle of nowhere and the supervisors forgot to send you food and water or someone to cover for you to get a break. You also got the people that wanted to take it out on you for charging too much to park, like it was your decision to set the parking prices. Cut the attendants some slack.
UTEP is a band wagon city and always has been. I remember a young concert promoter, before Covid hit, whining and whining on the radio because some BPM type festival (I forgot the name) got cancelled due to lack of sales "We can't have anything nice in El Paso because we don't support it..."; I mean he was literally whining like a teen who couldn't go to the mall.
And if Dimel hits the magic number 6 for bowl eligibility, what will it be then folks? He's not young, tall and handsome like Carey Grant. He doesn't offer quick witted slogans every weekend (like Price and Bailey always did), and yeah, he is run first oriented. Based on Dimel's history, there's no hat rack for us to hang our hope hat on but my point is "what if?" and UTEP fans are whooping it up in Dallas at some lower tier bowl in two and half months?

Here’s the other side of the coin. Some homer acting like winning 6 games in a coach’s 4th year is an accomplishment. No expectations and is fine with mediocrity.

Doesn’t matter what place they’re in. It’s the top US league. I’m not complaining about the price of parking. You were shocked it was cheaper than a pro team in a wealthy city.
The lack of amenities and breaks is between the attendants and their supervisors. But I'm not going to cut slack to slackers who aren't doing their jobs.
I thought it was going to be 20 by how close it was. I never ventured into that area of the SB parking when I lived in EP. Since I was running late I gave it a go. I always parked in the empty lot next to Taco Tote. All those long walks I could have avoided.
Different times for UTEP football my friend. If they charged $20 now only a scarce few would park there.
