2 guys in particular that are just jacking shit up. Both have been difference makers this season so I’ll cut them some slack. But they gotta stop just throwing shit up.
I disagree. Despite their schedule they're 12-2 coming in, and one of the favorites for the conference title. If we hold on this will be a good win.

Frazier was dynamite again tonight. If Bynum had made just two shots, it would have been even easier. Good win.

OF3 played like a MAN tonight. What a game he had. Came up clutch when LaTech went on good runs.
Good win. Ice up, and smash a short handed SHSU Saturday for this win to mean something in the standings.

Frazier 2nd half performance won us this game. Kalu did solid on Botcho in 2nd half. Made free throws for once. UTEP out scored La Tech in the paint, nice.
We left a bunch of points on the floor and still won by double-digits.

WKU attacked relentlessly down 16. Liberty has almost all starters back and they're tough though.
UTEP shut down one of the best mid major big men tonight. That was extremely impressive.

Sam lost to Aggies. Not to look past Sam but 1/11 game vs NMSU will be crazy.
You know I will consider the Louisville game a win. We know Utep won that game if it wasn't for the refs. Yes its a lost but I will consider it a win. I think committe if have to will see it that way also. If they look closely they will see the free throw attempts by the red birds.
Only THREE turnovers by the Miners tonight. That's insane. I think that was the key to the game.
I obviously was not able to watch tonight since SHSU NMSU hate game was going on but it is damn impressive to hold Batcho to only 10 points. Golding has really changed the trajectory of this season after the baffling SJSU loss.

Just got back from the game. I havent read the thread yet. Rough start, but then UTEP took over on defense. The turnover ratio must have been huge. Kalu and Jones did a good job on Batcho and scored a bit too. Our shooting was spotty at best, but Frazier had a monster game and dominated the offensive glass. We shot well from the line. Had Bynum shot well we win by 20. La Tech only hung in there with corner 3s.
Good win. Disappointing crowd. We didn't shoot well but we hustled in other areas that made a difference. I hope this showed the team that they can win in other ways when shots aren't falling. Huge minutes my Jones today after Golding got in his face. What a response by him. I was also impressed with Bynum. Despite not hitting a shot, he still made some great hustle plays. Sometimes shooters give up when shots aren't going down but Bynum found a way to contribute while not scoring. Otis is so consistent which is what we need from our senior leader. I was impressed with the way they handled Bancho on defense too.

BTW, in my opinion, this was easily one if the best defensive games that a Golding coached UTEP team has played. Yes, we lead the nation in steals and forced turnovers again, but this is usually at the cost of giving up some easy shots and way too many offensive boards. In this game we defended well, holding them to 40% FG and 28% 3FG, and, while we were still outrebounded overall, the margin was closer than usual against a good team, and we actually had more offensive boards and 2nd chance points (thanks Frazier!) than they did. We only shot 37% FG and 20% 3FG, but thanks to our D still won by 10. I hope that we can continue this caliber of defense the rest of the year.
Didnt shoot well from the field but this team does something last years team didnt: they take advantage of the turnovers. To overcome the inevitable rebounding deficits. They have to score off turnovers, and they did it tonight.
If you told me earlier today that Bynum would go scoreless, I would have said UTEP is losing. But other guys stepped up in a big way to overcome the lack of production out of Bynum. This might have been UTEPs most impressive win of the season... Bynum won't be cold like that every game.
