I like it. I feel we're jinxed when everyone picks UTEP.
For the past few years, especially since the AJ cheap shot out of bounds by USM, I have been wanting UTEP to take this particular CUSA team behind the wood shed and just give them a beat down. I don't know why USM has to be dirty (football and basketball) when they play UTEP, were not natural rivals, but they just are, even Doc ran up the score ugly on UTEP a few years back. UTEP has not won against that team in five tries and I believe and now it's UTEP's turn to return the favor, but it's will not be a lopsided win. Dimel needs a bowl run to save his job and a victory will keep them one away from achieving that. I hope Cowing lights it up.

Anyways, UTEP can't get over confident. USM is reeling and has nothing to lose. I remember an upstart UAB team flying high after playing Lazarus one to two years prior eek'd out a win to hapless Dimel UTEP team. I'll never forget Hotchkins goal line stand against CUSA's top rb at the time.

I always liked Coach Rodriguez. Got to meet him when he was recruiting my son. He gave off a very genuine vibe.
Great to see Coach Rod cheering for the Miners. He was a great player who competed with a big heart and high intensity. I’m hoping he’ll end up being our HC some day.
