UTEP vs Texas likely will be moved to Sept 12

That’s a 6 day old article. Unless they can move the NMSU game to 9/5, I don’t see it. Plus, if you’re UTEP why risk getting exposed by another team’s player and then get your UT game cancelled???

Lol, 5 days equals outdated news. A vague statement from 5 years ago equals the latest up to date information.

Different of course. The COVID situation is very fluid and constantly changing. 6 days ago Pac 12 and Big 10 were playing today they’re not. The other thing you’re referring to, has had no news since then and you’ve had multiple opportunities to prove that my information is incorrect.

Well, let's just wait and see it that 6 day old article turns out to be correct.

It is incorrect because five years later there was never a vote on the ballot or any updates to how the meeting between Mountian Star and the city went. It's time to accept that information is outdated. Anytime you mention an article is outdated I'll remind you of the outdated sources you use.

Whatever man. Two different things. The college sports landscape changes every day now. The stadium is still where it was 5 years ago - no plans, no site, no timetable

Only the college sports landscape changes, not the soccer world. Damn, but you said the plan was to have the city build it. Interesting change of course.

Of course it changes, but until you show me their plans and potential financing for it, we have to go off older things.
I want you to show me their old plans. How much are they asking from the city? When will it be on the ballot? That kind of information shows actual mutual discussions and plans. That demonstrates it’s not just a vague statement that hasn’t been revisited in half a decade.

I’m not doing that. Once you produce a statement from an executive from MountainStar saying they’re paying for all or most of it on their own, then I will produce their old plans. I will not be responding to you on this subject anymore until I see the statement I requested.

Because they doesn’t exist. It was one statement with zero follow up to it. I don’t care dude. Be selective with the information.

UTEP will be announced as the Texas home opener very soon.

That’s my response to his “will UTEP add a warm up game”.
And I'll concede that one to you. Texas would probably ask UTEP (tell UTEP) the game is on if the Longhorns are your 1st opponent. I obviously did not think that one thru. I would have liked to have seen UTEP play vs ACU or SFA as a preliminary but not likely to happen.

I don’t think your question was far fetched, but I don’t see UTEP risking a payday to play someone the week before. Maybe 8/29, but I think it’s best UTEP opens the season with UT.

I don’t think the game will happen(COVID reasons, not scheduling reasons), but it’s the best we can hope for.

Best case scenario is we play Texas and then the season is canceled afterwards. Cash our check and knock a year off Dimel’s contract.
So what if the game is played, UTEP shocks Texas for the win and Dimel gets a 10 year extension? What are the odds of that happening? :)

We can only hope it works out that way. Dimel and all the other football coaches need to be giving back part of their pay if this is the case. Imagine doing 1/12 of your job and then taking the full money, at a public university!

If Senter extends any coach’s contract a year because of COVID, he should be fired immediately!

It’s funny that when cancel football first started most of us thought the Texas game would be the first to go. We ended up being their only non conference opponent and their home opener. Much respect to Texas for keeping the money in the system. It feels like big brother taking care of us.

Texas has been pretty clean COVID-wise. The only threat to this game is if Utep has an outbreak.

My point, dick breath, is Texas will be more careful than UTEP about this game.

I wouldn’t say so. UTEP needs this money. You don’t think Senter and Dimel will be breathing down the players necks for the next month? Would you want to be a marginal player that gets COVID and costs UTEP $1.4 million????

Not my point.

UTEP can now find another game for the schedule
Maybe there will be fans this fall. FC Dallas first pro team in America with a live audience.

If that's 2900 fans then UTEP sold out all last year with 50k at each game. Honestly that looks like 300 would be pushing it.

This could be a good thing for UTEP, like was stated. Go to Austin, come back with a fat check... Season gets cancelled. No biggie. lol I hope its on TV, I'd imagine it should, given there will be slots open...
