UTEP WNMU Game thread

At the game as well and I will reserve most analysis till the NMSU game. We do play with more energy and aggressiveness and we seem to be developing some kind of identity. We are not physical and I am afraid stronger D1 players can over power us at almost every position. WNMU isn't physical but they did manage to push us around. I think it's going to be a long night in Cruces but we will know more about where this team is headed.

Nice job by the students tonight. They got into the head of the guy that got the technical foul. I give them credit for making that guy lose his cool.

Agree. It is obviously early in the season, but his game looks same ol’ same ol’. I am hoping Golding manages Kennedy’s shot selection. Bieniemy on the other hand…
I thought that both Kennedy's and Agnew's shots still look ugly. Both guys can contribute in a lot of other ways, but neither should be taking outside shots. I hope that Kennedy is okay.

Agree. Kennedy was 2 - 6, and Agnew 0 -2 from three point range. I thought for the most part, those shots were open shots. I would like to see both guys take the ball to the rim putting pressure on the defense. Other than Boum, we really don't have anyone else who can get to the line. Having multiple guys who can penetrate the defense off the dribble would really help the offense. I thought Hollins showed some ability in that area. I did like the defensive intensity. The competition from NM gets real on Saturday.

I agree with all of the above comments...White was the biggest surprise IMHO. We have a bunch of talented, potentially physical athletes--the makings of a solid squad. However, it was impossible to judge their true capabilities against a team like WNMU. The real test will come this Saturday, and it looks like our new conference mates will be ready.

I have expressed all along my expectations for Satterfield based strictly on his Ranger stats and now it appears to me that White has a tremendous upside. If those two are on the floor with Boum, Bieniemy, Bonke, Tydus, etc. ; during crunch time I think defenses will be hard pressed. Earlier I mentioned performances by several players and somehow forgot Sibley. Shame on me. He's a keeper and will impact as the season progresses.
