UTEP WNMU Game thread

I know that we are watching them play a very inferior opponent, but already the difference is coaching is so obvious. the team is so much more disciplined, less frustrating to watch. there is hope. i like how they play and the hussle. The Terry coached teams were almost unlikeable.

couldn’t make the game because a few things, but these reports are what I was hoping for. Terry was an incredible recruiter but his on court choices were questionable at best

Well, it was rough at times, but I absolutely love our defensive intensity. I worry that we will still suffer stretches where we struggle to score, but our D will keep us in a lot of games. Bienemy will have a big year. None of our bigs are near as good as BW, but all seem to hustle and have some upside. It will be an interesting year. I can't wait to see them against better competition on Saturday.

Did any of you all notice Kalu’s free throw approach? No dribble, no nothing. The ref gives him the ball and he shoots the free throw immediately.

Hate to key into my inner Fili because I have played in a national high school tournament in late 80’s, been coached by P5/Chicago and other college coaches who developed my game, I have never ever seen anything like that.

Just got back from the game. My takes:

*Bienemy knows he has to score and will embrace that role.
*Satterfield can shoot.
*Our bigs have meat on their bones.
*D is intense.
*Rebounding must improve.
*Kalu has a man’s body.
*Bonke is a big kid who has an outside shot.

Our guard play will be good. Inside scoring may be an issue. Boum and Bienemy will carry this team. D will keep us in games.

Kalu personal resume in a Baltimore fish wrap stated he works on his inside game, it showed. We’ll see how it does against fiercely loaded NMSU Aggie squad.

Hopefully with the obvious improved offense from Bieniemy along with some perimeter production from Satterfield and White we could be all smiles later on down the road. We got 34 from the bench and eleven players scored and all without Souley. I still feel that Kennedy is a turnover every time he shoots. Bonke and Kalu will develop and Tydus obviously needs to work on his careless fouls. We were out boarded 40-39 by a much smaller squad, but I'll bet that improves. We did shoot 50% from the field which surprised me when I looked at the stats. Hard to find much fault with a 28 point win.

Agree. It is obviously early in the season, but his game looks same ol’ same ol’. I am hoping Golding manages Kennedy’s shot selection. Bieniemy on the other hand…
