I know that there's a lot of HUNTER HATERS out there, but I thought I would share some of his stats which are mighty impressive. Wondering when the Kings will give him a shot. Didn't write down the exact numbers but these are close:
Over 22 ppg, 58% fg%, 62.5 ft%, 11.2 rpg
I think our season would be a little different had he stayed for his junior season. I hated to see him leave, but if that means he can provide for his family; good for him.

Gaudy stats are commonplace in the D-League. There are lots of "individual contributors" who put up lots of points, very little defense. Many don't get called up.

If he doesn't get called up this season, he should go to Europe. He can still get called from Europe, but meanwhile he can make more money (D-League pays peanuts) and compete for meaningful championships where they actually play as a team.

I realize D League stats can be gaudy, but his are the sixth gaudiest in the league. he must be doing something right. I think he's proven that he has the ability to compete at that level when there were lots of Miner Digger Doubters.

When you say that "he's proven that he has the ability to compete at that level", I think it's important to keep in mind that his success has come at the D League level, which is saturated with guys who will never play in the NBA. It's almost like CBB II. He's a workhorse, with an almost adequate skill set at this point, so I personally don't doubt he'll occupy an NBA roster at some point. But, he hasn't really proven much substantial up to this point, and so the verdict is still out on Hunter, imo.

I wish Hunter all the best. He never got into trouble while at UTEP. Played to the best of his abilities and worked hard on the court. I never heard Floyd say in any interview..."I had to bench him for undisclosed reasons.." like fans have heard a few time this season. He was just benched because he was foul prone under the basket. I hope he goes back to school and gets his degree.

Who hated Hunter? He was the most exciting player we've had here since Culpepper. I miss him.

What is your definition of a "Hunter Hater"? There were a very few (I'm pretty sure that I could count them on one hand) on here that essentially called Hunter a prima donna and said that we would be better off without him this year. I remember telling one of them that 6-8 players with NBA caliber athleticism that have that kind of motor don't grow on trees. If that is who you are referring to, then fine.

But there were some on the board, myself included, that were called haters because we thought that Vince still had several parts of his game to work on (a jump shot, post skills, free throw shooting, and decision making), that he would be better off returning to school and working on these areas, and warning that he would probably either not get drafted or be drafted very late. Anyone who would refer to someone voicing this opinion as a "hater" is an idiot and would do well to either buy a dictionary or spend copious amounts of time on dictionary.com.

Definitely this season would have been different had he stuck around. I also think his future would have been different had he stuck around. That said, I'm glad he was here and don't fault his decision. It was his alone to make. Wish him the best and I do think that at some point he'll get a shot at showing his game in the NBA.

I referred to VH as "just another guy" and I still doubt he will make it to the NBA level because there are so many "just another guys" head of him at the NBA level. You'll see them every night now on NBA-TV & TBS. If that makes me a hater - then I guess I'm guilty. Just calling it the way I see it.

Wait a minute boys and you Maniac;,, in particular. You may be a very special voice on this board and your knowledge and insightful posts are unquestionably right on and generally appreciated , but does that give you the license to call me an idiot because we seem to have a difference of opinion? I think you're getting a little carried away and overreacting to a post where all I intended to do was to provide some info on how he has done so far. I certainly wasn't trying to pick a fight, but for some reason you seem to be wanting to. I don't keep records on whose specific opinions were expressed when it was suspected that he might declare early or those specific posters who expressed opinions after he declared, so I can't give you numbers or names. I totally agree and also thought his best decision would be to stay at least through his junior year for his best chance to at a lucrative contract. I heard that his family was in desperate need of financial support which to me was a justifiable reason to take a chance. I think most on here did not want him to leave. I certainly knew how sorely missed he would be and I think that's been verified.
I think "haters" was a word I used because as I recall there were several who hated to see him leave and some of those same people called him selfish and not a team player. I think it has a nice ring to it though don't you..."Hunter Hater "?
WOW! Guess I unintentionally ruffled some feathers. EXCUUUUUUUUSE ME!

By the way....to those of you who doubt that he'll ever make it to the NBA, or question the value of The D League or question his performance so far.... Do you have a better yardstick than the one chosen and paid for by the NBA? Living in Dallas and watching what goes on with their D League players, I can testify that only a very few make it. You may not be impressed with what he's done and that's fine, but what would impress you?

Yeah, but you don't often get to see guys at that level play live in El Chuco for the price of a movie ticket.

miner1liner, please re-read my post. I think that you will find that I did not refer to you as an idiot, I referred to those people who called anyone with any type of critique on Vince's game a "hater" idiots. I was very careful in doing so, as I did not know whom you were referring to with the term "Hunter Haters". You obviously were not among that group, so the term idiot does not apply to you. I will say that the ones you refer to as "Hunter Haters" comprised a vast minority of the posters on this board.

Like you, I wish Vince all of the best. I would love for him to make an NBA roster and contribute. If he is unable to do so, I wish him success in Europe.

Well then it's settled. We all care about Vince! GROUP HUG!!

Just kidding

That's funny. I will say the board has been a whole lot more pleasant since the disappearance of a few posters...or perhaps it was just one. Lol. There seems to be a little more tolerance for differences of opinion. Less lashing out. Apologies when apparent lashing out does occur. Yes, room for improvement...but not a whole lot. This is the kind of place I prefer to hang out at.

He will get his dhpt in the NBA and honestly anyone who doesn't think so doesnt really know basketball. He is a project, but definitely on a very close radar with the NBA teams, obviously Sac mostly. Now what he does when he gets his shot is still up in the air, but he will get a shot.

I hope you're right, because I believe that if Vince gets a shot, he will do very good things with that shot. He has a motor that even surpasses most players at that level, I believe. He finds ways to get points and is a rebounding machine. I think he would provide a spark off the bench at the NBA level right now.
