If the Miners get to play FIU they will likely have 4 wins. Most on here thought 4 wins would save Dimel's job. I think he is safe since the team is improving. Extension might be going a bit too far at this point though. They’ll give Dimel an extension.
Yes stubborn on offense, or shall I say bad play calling and inability to adjust in-game or to the opposing teams' defense. If for example we are running all over somebody's ass them keep doing it and call plays to utilize those runs and play action. If a team is playing up in man then utilize our TEs up the middle or go long. If a team is sitting in zone or blitzing then use screens or slants or draws or QB runs. Im no football guru but damn utilize some imagination and trust your young men to execute. Also give the ball to your best players.Remains stubborn on offense? Now that he has a gun slinger in Hardison there were so many time he should have just pounded an opponent with Hankins/Fields/Awatt but he decided to throw it. There were two drives against La Tech that were a)not penalized and b) moving the chains with the ground game and he decides with a short or lateral pass game and both got stymied.
Having a three headed monster at rb like he has is a blessing. Kug would have "shat his pants with delight" if he had three.
Not many of you thought we would have a .500 record in November. 😀
That's a fair assessment when it comes to gameplanning, but in-game adjustments are extremely important IMO. Its the difference between mediocre coaching and winning coaching. It takes smart and capable coaches and players who are prepared. I guess that's why its rare.I think the fact that he has gone away from the RPO, zone read and to a lesser extent the wildcat shows his ability to adjust to the roster. At KSt he had a lot of success with his offense. It is what it’s always been. Top 3 in conference rushing and bottom in passing. I don’t expect him to change much but I do expect it to start producing better results.
I feel like it’s easy to sit and always say the coach should have done the opposite of what didn’t work. That's a fair assessment when it comes to gameplanning, but in-game adjustments are extremely important IMO. Well not when we are seeing and saying it during the game, but yes its always easy for us armchair retrospect coaches. And like I said, it takes smart and prepared players too. I hope to it more as Dimel progresses in the program.I feel like it’s easy to sit and always say the coach should have done the opposite of what didn’t work.
There are plenty of examples of coach doing exactly what we said in the chat and the players unable to execute it.
