Yup, literally straight cash or certified check. Did you read the story out of Manhattan how UTEP got on KSU's schedule three years ago. KSU got into a scheduling pickle and was desperate for a home game, but wanted a lesser, but preferable FBS opponent. They called the AD office and asked if UTEP was interested. Stull really wasn't, however, he is not the type to shut a door on any client. He literally told his assistant, "One million" and thought they would say thanks, but no thanks! They said no problem, let's "git'r done!". Due to the NCAA attendance requirements for FBS schools, it's given the mid majors somewhat of a better bargaining chip because the majors know the smaller FBS fish also need to adhere to the attendance and home scheduling requirements, so your UTEP's, Eastern Michigans, Ball State's and NMSU's can ask for more.
However, during Price's first years, Price was for home-and-home only with the big boys and used his name to get this done (OU got a two for one deal, so UTEP still owes OU two game which was made under Price tenure). Attendance went dramatically up and big money games seemed a thing of the past. But, reality seems to have come back for UTEP and it will be seeing for a while since attendance has gone down dramatically towards the end of the Dumpster Fire administration flame out and Kug's first years. In my opinion, BOTH coaches are directly responsible. Price for his "over time you will UTEP rise in the polls" bs, and "I promise, no late season meltdowns" and Kug's stubborn, hard head, "the true fans will come out to see us" attitude towards UTEP fans. But yet, UTEP is still in top for CUSA attendance (which shows how sad this conference has become). Stull is a salesman, FBS football is all sales. As one poster said, if UTEP goes into Austin and plays UT down the wire, that will definitely make the majors reconsider UTEP, because they want the "W". Price did it against Buffalo and admitted to it. When he scheduled them, he wanted a weaker FBS opponent UTEP could easily handle, but Buffalo turned their program around in a year (behind rb Starks, who now plays for Green Bay) and won both games.
You go Stull and put that Mary Kay lipstick on that fat Vols pig, or dog.....whatever, and try to fool UTEP fans that's it renewing an old SEC series. You go Stull, you go. You just better make sure Kug gets that team to the CUSA championship, this year.
