What are your expectations for UTEP basketball?

There is a discrepancy between my wants and my expectations.
My expectations - 1 NCAA tournament or conference title every 5 years.
My wants - 2 NCAA tournaments or conference titles every 5 years (or a combo of the two).

Utep puts enough money, which will even increase with going to MWC to compete for titles year in and year out and at least make the NCAA 3 out of 5 years and the other times NIT. For this to happen going into a new conference Golding has to be let go and we have to pay a coach north of 1 million and get this thing going in the right direction. Watching the Jax game made something soberly clear. While many on last years team came back, they’re just not as talented as some of the top teams in CUSA. We’ve won with fight and grit and steals. Overall though Golding’s recruiting has fallen short. Those are the facts!

NM Bill SB268 will fund 2.5 million a year to NIL of both UNM and NMSU.
The Michigan Coach, May, got a new contract and part of that deal increases revenue sharing with Basketball to the athletes between 2 and 4 million.
These new Coaching Contracts are now Salary + how much is the NIL player pool money.
You mentioned that the next Head Coach will need to be paid North of a Million, but that Coach is not coming without NIL guarantees in place as part of the deal
Competing for the conference title every year, atleast making the NCAA tourney every 3-5 years. 20+ wins and a strong OOC schedule and record every year.
Expectations are as follows:
Results to at the very least match NIL funding. Estimates online have MBB NIL to be close to 1 Mil. Which would put us at the very top or close to the very top (4 schools show no data on nil-ncaa.com).
So I would say for every 4 year cycle give me 2 CUSA championships, 2 NCAA appearances. 1 NIT or lesser, and I'll allow 1 sub-par year out of every 4 for rebuilding or just UTEP being UTEP.

Those are unrealistic don’t you think? UTEP has made the NCAAs 3 times in the last 32 years and only came close another 2 times during that span. You expect 2 times every 4 years????
Yes Kane we absolutely do! What do you mean? The proud miner fans expect to be back to what we were at some point. The last 32 years aren’t something that we want to continue to get used to lol. That’s like asking Cowboy fans if they’re happy with the last 29 years or they want to and expect to get back to the glory days!
I want a NCAA tourney appearance EVERY year. Why should we want less?
Is it realistic? Probably not. But we'll only get close to whatever our actual goal is. You want one tourney every 4 years? Expect one every 8. Or 18, in our case.
Doesn’t every school want a NCAA appearance every year? Can you point me to one that doesn’t?

And you made my point. It's what everyone should want. The difference is in who can make it a reality.
