18 wins. Only because that's what I predicted the day he was hired. We can give him a break because of all the injuries and sickness he has dealt with. It will be very telling of his time here if still achieved that goal despite all the "excuses" available to him.

Recruiting class rank is so darn speculative. C. Lang turned into a diamond and was on no recruiting radar. As was Stone, Culpepper and going back farther UTEP Legends Antonio Davis and Dave Feitl.

I agree with Corona for 18.

Man, not to be argumentative, but Culpepper was the 99th ranked player in the class of 07, and was even on the “P5” radar with interest from Clemson, Ole Miss, Iowa and throw in Memphis, not to mention the several G5 schools.

Stone had Pepperdine, Portland, Wyoming and WKU hot on his heels.

We have transfers form Xavier, Georgetown, Oklahoma, Oregon St. etc.... Point being they can have 4 starts or have certain rankings or whatever. However at a school like UTEP it's more about how the team is out together, mesh and how they're coached. Not saying recruiting isn't a Big factor too, but the others have proved to be just as important if not more.

Well here we sit at 4 games above .500. We need to split the next 6 games and win at least our 1st game in the conference tourny to meet or exceed the expectations of 95% of us that voted. I think we can still do better and have an upset or two, but I've settled a bit after the Marshall debacle.

The Marshall loss hurt the chance at getting to 4 over .500 I'm with my original prediction of 2 games over.

Thank you. I was referring to ink on paper offers.

Rivals does show Colorado offered Culpepper. I didn't know about his ranking.

Stone had very, very late "interest" as signing day came close. He had an interview with Kappy on his signing day and signed with Barbee because he stated he didn't have any other D1 offers (he had offers from smaller schools). "Interest", but no offers. Barbee was the only to offer.

Well, he went from making like 100k to like 900k.
ACU does not release salaries but he renewed in 2017 then two years later. According to hoop outlets the ACU base pay is minimum 86k. His base at UTEP is $700,000.

Technically his base salary at UTEP is 400k. I highly doubt he was only making a base of 86k at a rich private school. He got a raise to be the man at UTEP but I doubt it was in the figure range you're speaking of.

It was reported somewhere he was making about 400,000 at ACU before he left. He's gonna get close to doubling that here.

The salary and radio show are considered part of his base with contractual perks for certain criteria met: NCAA tourney, conference title, etc....

It was also reported that ACU almost matched his offer from UTEP. Had he stayed he probably ends up losing on a 100k raise or less.

Wins and records are important metrics, no doubt. I would like to evaluate Goldings first year on a few others from a fan standpoint. I think he has generated increased interest from the community appears to be the face of the program, heard him talk at a few events and he brings enthusiasm and is always trying to connect. As a fan I like his style of play he seems to be building an identity for the team built on what he views will bring success. I have no evidence other that observation but the players seem happy and respect him he has connected with them in ways past coaches I suspect did not. He coaches this team with emotion and joy he seems to be having fun. Coaching is a though job and every one has their own style, some are tactical, some are salesman, coach Golding seems to be a nice mix of the two.
