Pac12 not dead?

I’ve asked chat gpt to help out senter with a power point presentation. Here’s what it came up with.

**Slide 1: Title**

"UTEP to the PAC-12: The Ultimate Underdog Advantage"

---

**Slide 2: Introduction**

"Every great conference needs balance, and what's balance without a rock-bottom foundation? Enter UTEP."

*Subtitle: Why shoot for the moon when you can solidify the ground floor?*

---

**Slide 3: Boost Your Wins**

"Let’s be honest: you need us."

- **Win guarantees**: Imagine your fan base celebrating that extra W every season.
- **Player morale**: Nothing boosts team spirit like a UTEP matchup.
- **Bowl eligibility**: UTEP – your secret weapon to hit six wins.

---

**Slide 4: Historic Performance**

"Consistency is key, and we've perfected it."

- A tradition of finishing near the bottom. Why break what works?
- Longest streak of not *accidentally* upsetting anyone important.
- Proven to elevate other programs' records, year after year.

---

**Slide 5: Expanding Your Reach**

"Not just bottom dwellers, but geographic innovators."

- Reach into El Paso: A thriving fan base that loves football… no matter the score.
- PAC-12’s reach? From the Pacific to… almost Mexico!
- TV ratings spike as viewers watch your team light up the scoreboard against us.

---

**Slide 6: Financial Simplicity**

"No need to worry about overpaying for another powerhouse."

- Low-cost membership: We know our place and our price.
- Minimal investment, maximum scheduling benefits.
- Travel to El Paso: It's like a field trip to a desert paradise, where victory awaits.

---

**Slide 7: Final Pitch**

"Let’s face it: every conference needs a hero. But you also need us. The perennial underdog that reminds everyone else just how good they have it."

*UTEP: Your guaranteed win. Your conference's humble foundation.*
"Bowl eligibility**: UTEP – your secret weapon to hit six wins."

UTEP is the gift that always gives.

Pac12 not dead?

It’s far from over, but cusa isn’t looking too bad right now.
Maybe right now, but realize that there's further realignment on the horizon for the East side of college athletics. Guess who probably will get raided again and will have to resort to more FCS call ups? If you're not overjoyed with Jax St. and Kennesaw St., then you're probably not going to be happy with those call ups either.

Granted, it might also affect the MW as well.

What can Senter do? Is he going to call the MWC and say “We’ve got an 0-4 football team and a basketball program that hasn’t made the NCAA Tournament in 14 years! When are you sending the contracts?”
No, but he can say...."In adding UTEP to the conference, we can guarantee all of your conference members 1 additional win per year in FB and up to 2 wins in bb." That's gotta be alluring to some of the middle of the road programs in the MWC, which happens to be almost all of them.

The school that should be most worried is Hawai'i. They look like the one school that could get stranded. UTEP has no choice but to wait. Its too early to jump on the MW. The PAC12 should be where UTEP aspires to be and now is the time to go all in and get into the PAC12.

Unfortunately, UTEP is UTEP.

All in is going to require next level of commitment, a comprehensive athletic vision, a community partnership, (and yes Fili, the Sun Bowl Game), and creative fundraising (Student fees?).
Hawaii and Wyoming, yeah.

UTEP athletics is not their biggest deterrent. It’s El Paso. SMU never won anything since their death penalty. They’re in the ACC because of their location. Rice is in the AAC because of Houston. Not because of their sports performance.

The MWC isn't going anywhere. The remaining schools will do exactly what Wazzu and OSU did to the defecting PAC schools...make a lot of money from they exit fees and rebuild the conference. They are not going to leave that kind of cash behind.
That’s the way I feel. Too much money to not at least attempt to revive it. Though the Pac 2 had a lot more options than the MWC will have.

That 9 out of 12 bylaw is looking very shaky right around now. But as mentioned, that would be up to the courts similar to the PAC 😳

I guess I’m not the only one thinking it.

I doubt there is actually a way to resolve the MWC. From what I have seen, their (MWC) bylaws state that once you announce you are leaving, you no longer have a vote in conference matters. As an example, why would the schools that left the PAC12 initially not all get together and vote to dissolve the PAC?
It’s for the lawyers to decide what the language actually states. That’s why the Pac 12 is still a conference. Makes no sense for schools leaving to have the ability to decide to dissolve their past conference.
