Dimel’s 7 2021 wins:Dimel took over the worst program in college football with the worst roster in college football coming off a historically awful season.
Then Covid hit and no one would come to El Paso. The next year he wins 7 games. It’s standard practice in College Football to extend a Coach going into his last season.
That’s the problem when you are just a Box Score Boy and don’t fully comprehend situations.
Look at Tom Herman’s record, he’s so great!!! Then you dive into and he’s never improved a program and been fired twice.
Write better contracts and stop giving coaches such a long leash. Dimel was 8-33 against FBS teams when he received an extension. Seriously, what more evidence do we need to see that it’s not going to work? We got to eat one of those extension years so it’s all fine and dandy.
Why invent something that already exists? 🤡
I think he is gone. I bet he donated all his Utep gear to the goodwill, or sold it all in that garage sale Utep had. I bet this is what happened::In my humble view, I believe coach Golding will be here for the full 5 years. He should be in the top 3 teams this year and get to the final conference game. I expect the team should beat LT in that game. Being ready for conference play is critical. Now, next year will be next year. Lets Get behind this team, and will them to a conference championship.
If UTEP gets “lucky”, they might get both Missouri St and Delaware next year. Hopefully a game vs Kennesaw St too.By eating I meant we got to buy out a contract year for an extension Dimel should have never received.
I tend to agree. I’ll critique every loss until he delivers results, but at this point, we have no choice but to wait and hope he figures it out. The NMSU game will be a key indicator of what to expect moving forward.
People say our schedule is tough, but let’s be honest, C-USA did us a favor by removing the return game against one of the best teams in the conference, JSU, and giving us a home game against one of the worst teams in the country instead. We shouldn’t expect any more favors like that next season. If we’re not at .500 by the start of conference play next year, just give up hope.
What is want is for people to stop with the lame excuses and stop with needing half a decade to win to here.Nope. You broke bread with Corona, or rather a hamburger or hot dog, so you mean business.
What I don't get is what specifically do you want? UTEP can't win a bowl, but did go under Dimel, Kugler, Price (3 bowls) and Nord. That's twenty five years. Golding under performs. I get it. It's not UTEP faults a coach bolted for UT. Who in they hell would have thought an allegation hundreds of miles away would touch UTEP Basketball coaching?! Floyd won here. Just one at large pick away and no doubt he would've retired on HIS terms. Not on your or others self diagnosed terms that got unnecessarily ugly.
Senter is not Bob Stull college business smooth. The Dimel hire should have never happened. Golding?! Please, everyone was for him or Jerome Tang. Senter showed his hand towards Doc according to some, but Senter chose a top two fan pic. Walden? Same thing as Golding process. He had no big win but UTEP fans wanted youth. Well, Senter went young coach. Scotty had respect among FBS world. Loss to S. Utah was not Senter's fault. He does have two ugly FCS losses though (N. Arizona and SU) and his job is to cut checks for those games, not expect a loss. MW? We're in and UTEP really shouldn't be in. He (and Wilson) got it done. Volleyball has been brought to life when no one expected. Track n Field is kicking fanny after TAMU stole our top coach. UTEP has beach volleyball. Softball could be better.
What do you want given the low budget? I'll give you Golding. He needs to improve now or go!
Meh, I’m not a gambling man myself. Tongue in cheek talk. I’m just damn near positive this year isn’t the last we see of him.Sorry, I don't like sucker bets.
Senter ONLY focuses on grades. Don't embarrass us off the field. He has HORRIBLE business sense, and in today's collage athletics, that's horrible.
And when he talks, if he says "right?" one more time, Imma lose ma shit!
You ramble more than me, but I agreeNope. You broke bread with Corona, or rather a hamburger or hot dog, so you mean business.

Sorry, I don't like sucker bets. That kid is a huge reason why they are hanging tough. I think they only lost by 3 to #20 Wiscy. Meanwhile we are losing by 30ish to a program that is not even a directional school, that sits in some valley in the middle of Utah.
$100 says CJG is back again next year.
Nope. You broke bread with Corona, or rather a hamburger or hot dog, so you mean business.People like you like to claim I am not a UTEP fan, but you don’t even know how long Mike Price coached here. One can argue he’s the “greatest ever” here. He coached here for 9 seasons and that’s not even counting the half year when he took over for Kugler.

I'm impressed. BTW Golding sucks.....
Based on history, Walden is already on pace to be a failure. There’s not one coach that did well after winning 2 games his first year. Maybe he gets to 3 games with a NMSU win.IMO, Walden should automatically get three years to show gradual improvement. However, if after those three years his record sits at 9-27 with only seven FBS wins, history at UTEP makes it pretty clear that he’s not the guy to get it done.

That, we should all be able to agree upon. I think 3 years is sufficient to demonstrate success and where the team is headed. At that point it becomes all about what is acceptable to whoever the AD is at the time. Unfortunately, our last 2 ADs, including our current, have really been content with subpar results. Which sucks for fans.IMO, Walden should automatically get three years to show gradual improvement. Yes....when ALL you do is post this stuff, YES it is. This isn't your NMSU board, bruh.Is it extreme though?
Fair enough. I'll buy that. There really is no set amount and it’s based on what kind of program you desire to be. There also has to be improvement you can actually prove. Saying they played tougher or harder or smarter is not that.
Sucky Walden was hailed as an offensive coach right? More exciting than Dismel? Has that been the case?
I personally don’t believe he has done a good job. Of course he should come back next year. Based on what I have seen, I don’t believe it will be much different. That’s me though, I don’t believe it’s in UTEP’s best interest to bring back a 6-18 coach to ring in the MWC move.
If he gets “close” to a bowl appearance next year, ok, but if he goes 0-4 or 1-3 in non-conference next year, I have seen enough and doubt it will get better.

Saying they played tougher or harder or smarter is not that.Everyone agrees with the outcomes you mentioned. They're facts. They can't be argued with. Maybe you've answered this, and maybe it's not as easy as giving an answer because of all the variables in play, but how long do YOU give a coach?
