Off and on. Got good under Price, cooled during realignment, then warmed up under Dimel and Kug. Like or hate all three, because LT had a long streak due to UTEP blowing things like a chip shot kick, it became heated. Fans really got indecent with LT players once. It was crude, but we fans were happy that their win streak was over.
Here is the thing about Golden…. He’s not overnight fix guy and his recruiting hasn’t been at the level we as Miner Fans would like obviously. He needs to get to 22+ wins this year and honestly make the NCAA, but NIT and winning a couple of games would show us promise! We all understand it’s a one bid league and it’s tough. I’d like to see Golden string 2 good years together before going to the MWC to restore my faith in him.
I don’t think regionality is required, but it can help. To your point, UTEP and LaTech haven’t played any meaningful games against each other and LaTech was won the majority of the games, especially in football.

Watched La Tech a couple times. Both teams right now are very inefficient teams. Walden is new and I wouldn't be surprised if Sonny Cumbie is on the hot seat or probably on his way out even if he just started in '22. La Tech doesn't do the UTEP 6-7 years/Year 4 or 5 is "we're still rebuilding" head coach narrative. Should've beat NMSU in regular time.
