4 in a row!!

Winning seems to be a cure all, our rebounding is better, shooting is better and inside game is better...Only issue is we can't take our foot off the gas petal because when we do we look like we did a few weeks back....

Not sure I follow. Sounds like you're putting the cart before the horse. Those aspects of the game that you say are "better", are the reason we are winning, not an effect of winning. Maybe I misunderstood your statement, tho.

I think he means that sometimes; like today for instance it appears they tend to lose their intensity and their dedication after building a big lead and start playing individually...losing all tbeir momentum. Can't keep doing that. It happened Thursday also.

Call it streakiness, lack of focus, taking the gas off the pedal--whatever you want to call it, we still have those tendencies.

I have to give them credit, though, their determination to win carried them through today's game.

Huge week coming up! Can avenge two losses, first to a team we had no business losing to, and then to a team we sorely need to finally beat. Men and Women swept Florida this week! Go Miners!

What I meant was this team has only one gear, when we scramble and run we look really good and all our weak points like rebounding seem to disappear. The second we try to hold a lead or slow it down or play a more paced game we look like a different team, we give up threes and rebounds, miss inside shots, stupid fouls, bad shot selection and have odd turnovers. We push the action and scramble on defense and all is reversed. We can't afford to slow it down. I really want to stick it LaTech, their players seemed disrespectful the last few times they have been here to play, time for a little payback.

Man!!! You hit the nail right on it's ugly head. Although I didn't see either Florida game I felt they just went into a lackadaisical coma after big leads in both games. I hate to be critical of their sudden promising turnaround, but they must get rid of this nasty habit to be successful. They were up 20 and 17 and fizzled to win by 10 and 9 and today it was down to 1 point.

We will see just much better this team is when the play la tech! On a side note anyone else get irritated with how whiny hooper vint is?

Hooper does have a bit of Danny Ainge in him, but I also have to admit that he gets some really bad calls as well. He played well yesterday getting a few key rebounds and a nice block.

THIS SHOULD BE THE CELEBRATION STATION. LET'S GO BANDWAGONERS. BIG GAMES AHEAD THIS WEEK. WE'VE GOT SOMETHING POSITIVE TO DWELL ON INSTEAD OF BURYING FLOYD AND THE PLAYERS.
Well said miner1liner!! I am pumped, and the Miners need some payback with wins over Southern Miss and La Tech. A good crowd like the Western Kentucky game would help.

Funny how I see games played at Florida Atlantic, FIU, and UT San Antonio (to name a few), and it's like high school gyms and crowds. UTEP games at the Don are at a much higher level, yet it could be so much better. Still hoping we can get into the Mountain West Conference.

Mountain West would be a dream come true. None of the CUSA schools have any rivalry appeal to me. No connection!

It is kind of quiet considering the nice little run the Miners have been on. And beyond the Ws, the style of play has been much more appealing from a fan perspective. For whatever reason, it appears to be easier to bitch and moan about the state of affairs, which I'm guilty of myself from time to time, than to give props when and where it is due. With that said, I've been openly pleased with Floyd's willingness to alter the style of play.

To add to my earlier post, during yesterday's game at Florida Atlantic, the crowd was so sparse I could hear a fan heckling Omega about his first name and also heckling Morris towards the end of the game "don't foul out Earvin". That's bad when you can hear fans. No way that happens at the Don. Let's come out and support the team this week!

Floyd is playing the percentages by shortening the game, which I think many coaches would do, and statistically is the smart thing to do. Heck, coach Haskins did it all the time. But it throws this team so out of whack on both ends of the court that coach Floyd is going to have to say to heck with shortening the game.

Funny you mentioned that, my brother and I were just talking about that and we felt the exact same way as you. I know it's the smart thing to do, but slowing the game down does throw this team off.

The worst way to slow down the game is by fouling the opponent and sending them to the free throw line. That really slows the game, and gives the other team the opportunity to get back into the game. Personally, playing good defense and not sending the opponent to the line, along with the Miners sticking with their track meet offense should get the job done against most teams.

Floyd needs to keep the foot on the gas to protect leads; not put on the brakes and mess up what got 'em there. Blew big leads in both Fla games by slowing it down.

The reality is every team is beatable even UAB at home, Utep almost had them before they've kinda got it together. If by some miracle this teams wins out n gets a top 4 seed n wins tourney I will eat my friend crow with hot sauce gladly while watching the NCAA! For now just glad to see a positive win streak!

I hope this team can get to 6 straight this week, would be huge.... Team seems to be peaking at the right time!!!

One question moving forward....

Who would you rather have on this team caracter or Vince hunter?

DC and its not even close

Without a doubt Caracter, Vince would always foul after he lost the ball...would drive me crazy. Caracter seemed more poised and collected as opposed to Vince who let his emotions get the best of him.

That is absolutely not true. Vince would throw his hands up and cry to the refs and then he would foul someone.

That being said, I wish him well and look forward to him getting the call up.

Teams figured out Hunter towards the end of last season, he had no alternative game besides drive to the basket and overpower the defense. Caracter had a more refined game, and he could hit a jump shot when needed. IMO no comparison Caracter was far better than Hunter.

Meanwhile in recruiting news, we may get even smaller. 5'9 PG from Putnam City West (same school as Omega) Marquis Johnson has received his first offer, from UTEP.

He might not even be 5'9"....

The 5-foot-7 senior finished with 31 — his fourth straight game of at least 30 points — as the Patriots held off rival Putnam City North 94-88 Tuesday night.
