If in fact Tim Floyd peters out after this season why not enlist the services of one Keitha Adams as men's coach. I say this every years but Keitha is as close to Don Haskins as I've ever seen in a disciple. I think she'd be able to recruit with anybody and think of the PR. It would cement UTEP's legacy of breaking barriers to success.

I thought of the idea of having a woman as the head coach of a Div 1 men's basketball program when Pat Summitt was at Tennessee. Like Summitt, Keitha Adams has all of the knowledge, skills, and experience to coach any college hoops team, men or women. The one question is cultural: would young men respond well to a female coach, both in their living rooms and on the court? I simply don't know the answer to this question. Someone, someday, will give it a try, and we'll have our answer. If it is UTEP that ever makes the decision, it would certainly bring a lot of publicity.

I'll say one thing for you. You are thinking outside of the box, for sure. Waay outside of the box. In fact, you mashed the box flat.

If UTEP were ever to be looking for immediate national media attention, hiring Keitha to coach its men's team would do the trick. I'm not so certain she couldn't (or wouldn't) succeed. That would be a ballsy move by Stull/Natalicio.

The men's game seems quite different to me than the women's game.

Funny you bring up women bball. A buddy of mine works at the Walgreens across the street from the DHC and a member of the UTEP women basketball team came in for a purchase and the two were talking UTEP sports when she told him "We're making up for the football team". Ouch! :)

BTW, UTEP women picked up 2 votes in the AP.

Keitha will NEVER be the mens coach.....BUT

I would bet money she is our next AD... book em Dan-O

This is 2015 right. Why is this such a foreign idea? If you think about it, it doesn't make sense not to have female coaches in a sport where women are so prominent as players and have such an established history of success.

Has nothing to do with being qualified or not being. 18-22 youngins are out there trying to get trim 24/7, they ain't gonna respect a woman coach.

Satire like Swift's original you might be alluding to?

Hey not that bad of an idea. We have already had a women's coach, coach UTEP (Texas Western) before...Don Haskins. He coached girl's high school basketball before coming to Texas Western.

Keitha Adams is a great coach, if she wanted to go up through the ranks on the men's side I think she should be given that opportunity.

This is a joking reference to the movie, right? If not, Haskins did coach both boys and girls basketball at Benjamin (TX) High, then became the boys basketball coach at Hedley (TX) High, and then the boys basketball coach at Dumas (TX) High. The movie, which depicted him as only being a girls high school basketball coach before coming to Texas Western, is inaccurate.

I, too, immediately thought of Swift when I saw the title, and was interested to see if jdubb was proposing that we eat babies. However, I think that he just stole the title, and is serious about the idea of hiring Keitha, not making an attempt at satire. So what is it, jdubb? Is your argument for Keitha as men's basketball coach and serious one, or should we, like unihorn did, have taken a clue from the title of the thread?

Well...everything is relative. You tell me.

This is the most interesting "food for thought" thread I have ever seen on this board. Good job!
