No, I didn't think so. UNM catching UTEP flat footed all night in transition. UNM's Dent catching UTEP off guard with his great passing which gave UNM a big lead, but UTEP did honorably fight back to cut it to two late.Am I seeing that free throw stat right? Was that legit or was there some home cooking tonight?
How good is UNM expected to be this year?Barnes did ok, but it appears UNM size was too much.
My expectations for Bynum coming in were to high, he shot poorly.
This was no slouch team UTEP played but Dent dicing up all our guards like a back alley switch blade fight was concerning given Golding's aggressive approach to cutting off passing lanes.
Contenders for conference along with Boise. How good is UNM expected to be this year?
I was only able to listen on the radio (didn't find a live stream), so that makes it tougher to evaluate how they did. A couple of things are pretty clear though. First, playing small ball against a longer team like UNM is going to be a problem rebounding (no shock there). UTEP's run in the first half to get back in the game was done mostly by and against reserve players by forcing a bunch of turnovers. UTEP's late run (when they had gone down 14 with about 4 minutes to play), was due in large part to Frazier catching fire offensively. For UNM, Dent and Washington were solid. Dent is really good and is probably one of the best guards UTEP will play this year. I do think UTEP's depth will be better this year. Camper needs to be more impactful. He's a guy who can do alot on both sides of the ball, and from listening in, you hardly knew he was on the court.Barnes did ok, but it appears UNM size was too much.
