Since Brian Natkin became our Offensive Coordinator, our Offense has been shut-out in 11 out of the 16 quarters that he has Coached. Absolutely terrible.

Brian Natkin’s offense has never scored a single 2nd half point in any of his 4 games as Offensive Coordinator. Absolutely terrible.

Our offense has currently been shut-out in 9 of the last 10 quarters. Absolutely terrible.

Our offense has currently been shut-out in 6 consecutive quarters. Absolutely terrible.

Here is a crazy/ironic stat: Sean Kugler, who will forever be known for his terrible offense, was never shut-out during his 4 1/2 seasons as UTEP’s Head Coach. Mike Price, who will always be known for having very good offenses, has now been shut-out in 2 of his last 9 games as a UTEP Head Coach(including when he got shut-out by SMU during his final 2012 season). Please clearly note that I am in no way blaming Price for tonight’s shut-out, this should go to Kugler, I am simply pointing out the irony of what the record books will show.

I don’t know if keeping Pease would have made any difference but Kugler shouldn’t have fired him. He should have resigned the day he fired Pease.

Damn it just hit me we are now officially guaranteed a losing season as we sit at 0-7. That means we have had one winning season in the last 12 years.

Some further stats:

UTEP’s offense has been shut-out in 18 of the 28 quarters played during this entire season.

4 different times this season, UTEP’s offense has gone at least 3 straight quarters without scoring a single point.

This season, UTEP’s offense has had different consecutive scoreless streaks of:

- 6 straight scoreless quarters.
- 5 straight scoreless quarters.
- twice they have accomplished 3 straight scoreless quarters.

UTEP’s offense has had 7 scoreless half’s of football this season(5 scoreless second half’s and 2 scoreless first half’s)......we have only played 7 games.

Remember that Natkin said in the press conference the Monday after Kugler stepped down that we would keep running the ball since that gave us the best chance to win. He is as stubborn as Kugler was. I certainly hope he is not considered for the HC job. I'm sure he is a great guy and certainly a UTEP guy but that simply is not enough.

I know...just messing with the people paranoid about Eric Price getting the HC job.

Hey, I'm one of them. Mike Price is UTEP family but it ends there. Tearing down a "Fire Floyd" sign at the DHC is ok in my book. He showed how he felt about it. Hiring his son is a whole different animal! Help Natkin with play calls? Fine. Kugler made the mess, not Price and kin.

But 2018 needs a new sheriff, new energy and new blood. Stull brought his painful revolution over two decades ago and now another one is needed. This city is divided, apathetic and with low morale over UTEP revenue sports.

Natkin’s offense was once again shut-out during the entire second half again tonight. In total, we were shut-out in 3 of the 4 quarters tonight. So to update our season offensive stats:

- Brian Natkin’s offense has still never scored a single 2nd half point in any of his 5 games as Offensive Coordinator. He has never scored a second half point as a D1 Offensive Coordinator. After 5 games, he has to be closing in on some type of record for worst start in history.

- Since Brian Natkin became our Offensive Coordinator, our Offense has been shut-out in 14 out of the 20 quarters that he has Coached.

- In total, UTEP’s offense has had 8 scoreless half’s of football this season(6 scoreless second half’s and 2 scoreless first half’s)......we have only played 8 games.

- Our offense has currently been shut-out in 12 of the last 14 quarters.

- In total, UTEP’s offense has been shut-out in 21 of the 32 quarters played during this entire season.

Terrible offense game plan. Terrible offense execution. Terrible quarterback play. Terrible line play.
I fell sorry for the players on this team, however many are not talented enough to be D1 starters. Backups probably.

In addition to all that you mentioned, Greenlee was also not sharp last night and on some plays he just flat out looked bad. It was weird because our WR’s rarely created separation last night, but on the few plays where a WR or TE did get open, Greenlee either wouldn’t throw it to them or he would throw it to them long after they were open. There was about 5 plays last night where the people in my section were yelling “throw it”, an example being crossing route by Lucero that Greenlee never saw.

I am not sure if Metz is still hurt, or if Price is just going with Greenlee over Metz. I guess at then end of the day, it doesn’t really matter.

Our next Head Coach is going to have to come in and immediately see if Fernandez can handle the job, and if not, then getting a new QB will need to be priority #1.

Veliz had the offensive card tonight. There was a reason bein cameras were on him tonight.

Looks like Price changed things up on play calling. Sad fact is Kug offense was vanilla. Can't blame that on Price. He's just working with what he's got. Veliz should have never been hired. Veliz is a coach who focused on Permian Basin, 5A & 6A high schools at Montwood to get Montwood past regionals. Not FBS schools. Major, major, major difference. MTSU showed that difference.

I told you guys I had heard Veliz was calling the plays. 2Step confirms what I said several weeks ago. I'm not always a putz.....LOL

I guess the splash of bringing in Price and opening up the offense with whatever little talent we have isn't working. Poor kids. I really hate to see us get all of 137 yards offense last night.

And yes, it has gotten worse since Kugs left. On the flip side, it wasn't going to get any better with him here.

Natkin is up in the the Press Box calling the plays. Veliz is just the coach on the sideline receiving the call and relaying it to the players.

Fact is Vee doesn’t need to be on the f’in field in the first place! How did Natty allow this?

UTEP’s ppg average has dropped since the firing of Pease. He coached against two current top 25 teams.

Wait, are people insinuating we shouldn’t have fired Kugler?
Hell to the no! UTEP FB needs to wipe the slate clean and start over. There are a few players that will be left over obviously, but the canvas has to be all white for the next coach. Everybody else needs to go and get a fresh start elsewhere.

What makes you say Napkin is a good coach?
His play calling is terrible. Even with out a lot talent you can have a better game plan than what we seen.

Coach Natkin is a very good coach. There just aren't weapons on this roster

This comment is odd because Natkin was the Recruiting Coordinator from 2013 to 2016, he essentially put together our current Roster which doesn’t have any weapons.

Natkin might be a good coach at some level, but he is not ready to be a D1 Offensive Coordinator and certainly wasn’t ready to be both the Offensive Coordinator and Head Coach.

I believe he was. College football sites were saying during preseason Kugler has to add more different wrinkles to his offense.

Two more games of this offense and it's done.

Defense should hold their heads up high. They are leaving it on the field.

The recruiting coordinator does not recruit all the players. He assigns the areas and manages the recruiting budget. Recruiting is an entire staff issue. 2nd, he was not hired to be the OC or HC.

I've been around many UTEP practices and I've been in several coaches position meetings. I can tell you that he is a very good coach and is a smart X's and O's guy.

UTEP has a severe talent deficiency. It doesn't all fall on Natkin. UTEP needs a coach who can recruit first and coach second.

Updated after the La. Tech Game:

- UTEP’s offense has NOT scored a Touchdown in 22 of the last 26 quarters.

- Since Brian Natkin became our Offensive Coordinator, our Offense has been completely shut-out in 22 out of the 32 quarters that he has Coached.

- In total, UTEP’s offense has been completely shut-out in 29 of the 44 quarters played during this entire season.

I thought we ran the ball pretty well today. Eddie Senigal was pretty good. But overall, our receivers can't get separation and Metz is often inaccurate. We put together some decent drives but didn't finish a couple times.

It's a tough job. You're basically auditioning for another school. Players know that they will have a clean slate with next years staff.
