Change the OC for the last 6 games.... what is there to lose?

Brent Pease has been a bust as the OC and the offense is way too predictable. Our WR coach, Aych, was a very successful OC at Angelo St with a wide open offense. Promote him now and let him run the offense for the last 6 weeks and see how it goes. Now is the time to do it. Bye week gives him 2 weeks to implement his spread. Even if losing more games, showing a more exciting offense that can at least score some points regularly might give the program a boost.

The problem is if we do that, then Aych would be our 3rd different Offensive Coordinator in 8 games, which is almost unheard of. But yeah, something dramatic needs to be done. Just like Aych, Natkin also was an OC for a high powered lower level offense as well.

Assuming that Kugler were to quit/fired/leave at the end of this season, then the new Coach will bring in his own OC and DC. This would mean that we will have a total of 6 different Coordinators in 14 games(Higgins, Stoker, Pease, Mason, new Coach's OC, and new Coach's DC). That large amount of system turnover is nearly impossible for players to play under.

Does anyone know Pease's salary? I'm curious to see how many years it was for because if they strip him of play calling duties this early you can pretty much assume he's going to be fired. So I would think there would be a pretty big buyout there as well.

$202,135

Thats the base salary listed. However, I know both pease and Mason make between 250 and 300 k a season. Boosters kicked in extra money for the new coordinators. Without seeing their contracts its almost impossible to know ho much they actually make.

In the spring Pease installed up tempo offensive packages. Those packages have yet to see the light of day this season
At this point I dont know whether Pease is a complete bust or hes being handcuffed.
I believe Pease has only had one successful stint as an OC, one year at Boise St. He didn't have success at Florida at all and was canned as WR coach last year during the season at Washington.

I don't blame Pease, I believe he's just executing the game plan the HC wants. Incredibly low risk. Looks a lot like last year with the other coordinator.

Brent Pease has been the Offensive Coordinator at 5 schools, but he has been bad at almost every stop. Look at the chart in the middle of this link. This is Pease's 9th year as an Offensive Coordinator. In 9 seasons, his offense has ranked 87th or worse 7 times! That is terrible! Only twice in 9 tries has he been able to produce an offense that is better than 87th in the country!

Wow and those schools are know for offense. But I think its Kuglar making him. No real OC in his right mind would run this offense and continue to run it.

Replacing the OC is a great idea. Our play calling is what I call: cowardly. All I ask from an OC is "give us a chance to succeed". Don't play it safe! Don't establish the run! Don't establish the pass! Don't reward the player that is a great practice player! Don't worry about kissing the head coach's ass! Don't " stay with the game plan" when it isn't working! Play to win! Have some balls! Dare to be great!
And for the head coach: yeah, one must delegate and place confidence and show loyalty in your hires if you are a true leader, but...loyalty is a two way street. And besides, your first loyalty is to the fans. That's a two way street as well. We as fans (not talking about the trolls that infest this and every other site) need to demonstrate loyalty to the program as well. Kind of like Cubs fans, Cowboy fans and all the loyal fans that support their teams by showing up and putting their money where it helps even when they lose.

I agree. They have two different offensive philosophies. That's practically a death sentence for a QB or any incoming QB.
