Why do they do this? It looks so weird and players look uncomfortable.

I have been to just one such dinner and that was back in the Bailey/Nord era. It was a starting linebacker but I forgot his name. Three things stood out that I will never forget: He said he was nervous. Players don't turn these events down because "we typically don't eat this good and it's free". Third, He hated scrimmaging the first team offense because Paul Smith was the most punishing running back he has ever played against; "You get up hurting when you have to tackle him".Why do they do this? BTW, I met Paul Smith in a professional setting a year or so after he was drafted. His bicep was literally bigger than my head. They were massive.I have been to just one such dinner and that was back in the Bailey/Nord era. It was a starting linebacker but I forgot his name. But yes, they are uncomfortable. Remember meeting the father for the first time of that girl you've been eyeing? That's how they feel.

Would you ever go have dinner with people you dont know?Nervous and uncomfortable about what? It's a dinner.
Would you ever go have dinner with people you dont know?
Yeah but at 18 or 19 years old?? And you have complete strangers looking at you eating and asking you questions.Of course. I've been to fundraising dinners/lunches. I always enjoyed them.

In theory, Fili is an adult. Imagine having to field questions from him.Why would questions from fans make you nervous and uncomfortable? These are adults, not 8 year old kids.

He used to coach at my oldest son's school some years ago. Cool guyBTW, I met Paul Smith in a professional setting a year or so after he was drafted. His bicep was literally bigger than my head. They were massive.
Do you think they have a choice to be there? Why would questions from fans make you nervous and uncomfortable? These are adults, not 8 year old kids.

Yes Fili, wouldn't you want some incessant bitch asking you how much you spent on tickets to a game and then bashing you for spending your money telling you that you spent too much? Pinche comadre India Maria in this mother ****er.Yeah but at 18 or 19 years old?? And you have complete strangers looking at you eating and asking you questions.

That's my point. I bet you the players dont want to do it. Why is it only the mens team?? Why only basketball? Why do the players have to be separated ?? Why cant the players sit together?Probably not. What's your point?
Why only men's basketball? Gee... maybe because it is literally put on by the men's basketball program to celebrate the season tipping offThat's my point. I bet you the players dont want to do it. I spit my drink....nice comeback! Why only men's basketball? Gee... maybe because it is literally put on by the men's basketball program to celebrate the season tipping off
The only logical conclusion is that they have this event to increase Instagram followers. Why do they do this? It looks so weird and players look uncomfortable.

Winning cures all. That's what the program needs to do. Look at the sell out we just had in football against UNT. El paso thought they were getting a winner and showed up. Turns out, it's what we all feared. It's jarring to see the photos. This event used to get 1000 people. Looks like maybe 100 people attended. Like everything else UTEP related enthusiasm is way down, which is understandable. I think last year we were just above 4500 average attendance for basketball. I've always thought after the older season ticket base died or were unable to attend games attendance would fall off a cliff and the bottom would be around 3,500 per game.
So the womens team doesnt get a dinner at the Don?? UTEP only cares about the mens team. Why only men's basketball? Gee... maybe because it is literally put on by the men's basketball program to celebrate the season tipping off

He doesn't pay the 5 dollars a month for espn+. You really think he would have paid to join the dinner? You should have went to the dinner and asked those questions.
How did it cost Utep anything?? They had dinner at the Don Haskins Center. They couldn't invite the womens team also? Dont tell me they had to pay Doc Sadler??915-747-5096
Contact the Women's basketball office and let them know you'd like to finance this endeavor. I'm sure it'll draw thousands.
I would pay to have dinner with the Utep Womens Beach Volleyball team.He doesn't pay the 5 dollars a month for espn+. You really think he would have paid to join the dinner?
It's the second annual "dinner at the Don. However, there have always been tipoff luncheons which were the same thing. This is not a new concept. It's the 2nd annual event....

‘Clueless’ seems to a very common trait at all levels of that athletic departmentFunny that @Cube Jack works for UTEP and is so clueless.
