Floyd has done nothing in 5+ years here at Utep. Every year is a rebuilding year. I'm sick of it ! How many of you still want Floyd coaching this team ? I for one think it's time to say bye bye to Floyd and All of his assistants. Time for fresh new blood.

Don't get excited. Our best chance to make the NCAA tourney in CUSA this season was always to win the conference tourney. Floyd has 2 months to get the team ready for a run. It takes time to get some chemistry going.

That is how it is every single year. Why? Should we just say the same thing that UTEP's only chance is to win the conference tourney. There is no reason we should not expect UTEP to have a better record and some quality wins going into conference play. We never said this with our previous coaches.

Since Stull will make the call, I think you have to look at specific scenarios, as Stull likely will.

I'm sure Floyd would be retained if he went dancing -- even if he was one and done.

I think he'd also be retained if he won the conference but didn't go dancing.

But what if he wins neither the conference nor the conference tourney, and goes to a second-tier post-season tourney? Does he have to win a couple games?

Can he survive no post-season? I'd think there would have to be a heck of a lot of confidence in his returning players and recruits. Hard to envision what that confidence would be based on at this point.

Tim Floyd has only had 6 years. NMSU, Arlington and Washington State are some of the toughest teams around. All of them are going to win their conferences. Plus CUSA is a sleeper conference full of underrated teams. Just because they ain't on ESPN every night, doesn't mean there isn't great teams in the league. Rice beat New Mexico in the Pit the other day.

This team is purified dreck, starting with the coach . That was a purely dreadful performance out shot on 2's out shot on 3's out shot at the line out rebounded . Total complete dreck .

Norfolk State had more offensive rebounds than we had total rebounds if I'm not mistaken.

EDIT: Norfolk State had more offensive boards than we had defensive boards. Overall they were +17 on the glass (43-26).

How is that even possible? I'm speechless at how dysfunctional this team has become. All fingers pointed at Floyd and his staff.

I don't care anymore who gets offended... Floyd has worn out his welcome and has put a shameful product on the court! The Kids, University and fans deserve better! We should blow up Stull's email that we are fed up!

Me too. I don't even know what to say anymore. And for better or worse, that's a gd rarity when I'm at a loss for words.

Look's like the coaching staff has decided that they don't have the ability to win with the cards they have been dealt, so they are just going to wallow in their sorrows. Not being able to compete on your home court against a Norfolk St. is beyond comprehension. Highly unlikely that Stull will do anything about the situation at the end of the season. Maybe fading into retirement is best for both the AD and the basketball coach.

Whomever is now backing this coaching staff blindly is becoming more of a problem than being helpful. There comes a time when changes have to be made or the digression will reach a point where it will be extremely hard to rise from. There came that time with Price, and now the time has come for Floyd. I for one am not leaping for joy, and am extremely saddened by this, but in all fairness to the fans, the time has come.

I know I'll get bashed on here but I am sticking with Floyd! He has some good young pieces and when we get jones back I think this team will get headed in the right direction !

We have some good freshman

Jones
Winn
Thomas
Touchet

I am beyond words after losing tonight but I still think this team will turn things around

Here's what I am having trouble with. Winn- 2nd year in the program. Vint-Year 5, Omega- Year 2, Flaggert- Year 3, Caldwell- Year 3, Touchet- Year 2.

Then you add Morris who had Division 1 experience and a year at UTEP. 4 Years of Experience. Artis, Division 1 Experience and a Junior. Lee Moore, 2 years of College Basketball experience and a Junior.

Out of the 200 minutes tonight, only 9 of those minutes were played by guys who were in High School last year.

You're absolutely correct, kickballpro. Experience, or lack of, is not the issue. Leadership certainly appears to be an issue.

NCAA or bust, sorry Floyd the nostalgia and welcome has worn off. If you don't win the CUSA tourney you need to step down. Call Barbee and see if he wants to come back. No more excuses, win or go home.

With UTEP's rich basketball tradition now fading and with Floyd's coaching career doing the same, this has to be the most disappointing season in a long, long time. Before the season began we had a lot of promise. We were going to finally have a team with great guards, which is what you need to have a good team. We had a highly thought of recruiting class. If this team was losing close games but putting a lot of effort in on defense and fighting to get rebounds, that would be acceptable and we would rightly think that they are going to get better and be a good team later in the season. But they are not doing those things and they are not getting any better. In fact, they are getting worse. We have a very experienced coaching staff and talented players but this is the product we get? Please retire coach.

The lack of success and in particular, the lack of progress of this current group, lies on the shoulders of the entire coaching staff. We've heard for years about the former head coaches on the staff and the experience they bring. The entire staff has failed. They all need to go, no holdovers, no one promoted to the top spot.

Floyd blaming players is sad. He hasn't done anything to develop players. He has a new team every year. They're all skinny as heck and can't play physical. That all points back to him. We need to go get the UT Arlington coach.
