Yes I'm looking ahead.

Should Wilson clean house, and hire better for the Mountain West??

And you think losing to Southern Utah didn’t look bad? That’s as low as we can go.
The NAU game was equally disgusting as they came out and slobber knocked the crap out of UTEP. S. Utah came out and just student bodied UTEP in 2nd half.

It was only his 2nd of the season and other coaches have done that before. Besides getting in trouble with the law is there anything that can get this coaching staff on the hot seat?? Utep is now in the Mountain West part of the big dogs. If Utep wants to play with the big boys they need to act like it. If Utep was still in CUSA then I think Walden would be safe.

I think Walden needs to win at least 3 games to be safe. He needs to win tonight and has to beat at Kenn St., and he needs to win one more game.

KSU made plays when drives were iffy. Liberty was calm and cool but a couple of UTEP type penalties swung to KSU favor.

In my opinion, he has three seasons to demonstrate significant improvement. If things remain the same, it’s time to let him go. That’s exactly what ULM did, gave their previous coach a chance, then moved on, and now look at the progress they’ve made under their new coach in just the first year.

Sorry guy, you can’t bring up a poorer school with less fan support as an example here. Several bar flys think Sucky Walden is the truth with his OKGs. Once he gets 5 of his own recruiting classes, watch out for a magical 7-6 NM Bowl season!!!

You can’t get rid of him. You have to see where it goes. Teams have already caught up to this kind of play fast run choice routes offense. They just back off and keep things in front of them. We’ve seen Tennessee struggle the last few games and there is now a game plan for this system that works.

The thing that is imperative in this offense is you have to have better athletes than the bad guys. Because it depends so heavily on winning 1v1 routes as opposed to trying to out scheme opponents with route combinations and having a Zone Side and a Man Beater/ blitz beater etc…

The Offense is all about playing fast and SIMPLE. Not a lot of run concepts because you do not want to be negative in the run game. Usually just inside zone and one more. The Pass Game is pick the guy you want to throw to and see if he can win deep, if he can’t, he comes back to the ball.

The Simplicity is what makes it go fast. So give it time, they will get the reps, the athletes will get recruited, and the scoreboard will get lit up. Hopefully

The curse of UTEP football deepens, forever sealed by the restless ghost of Bob the goat. Once a guardian of Trans-Mountain, now banished to the hills around UTEP, he wanders aimlessly, seeking revenge for his lost home. His eerie presence ensures no victory, his curse binding the Miners to eternal defeat. The curse will never be broken.

So are you saying he's the scapegoat?

I agree ☝️

This is what I hate about systems. You see this shit ain't working but you're gonna hold the line? A coaches stubbornness to his system blinds him. This guy can't add a bootleg pass? You had a mobile, undersized QB with a slow delivery, behind a swiss cheese line and can't design a play to move the pocket? Walden falls in love with a play and runs it 3x in a row. He really does call plays like he is playing a video game. Going for it on 4th in your territory at the 28? Sure. Going for it on 4th several times same drive after calling the same plays over and over. Yep.

I will say this...one of my criticisms has been with the quick tempo. I noticed that Walden had them huddle up a lot more from the start this last game. He played more true freshmen---#33 stood out so maybe he is realizing some of this shit ain't gonna work. But can we afford to wait 2-3 years of him learning on the job?
Walden isn't ready. It's apparent when the QB goes down and you ain't prepared and have no contingency.

Utep won’t lose to Kennesaw. It’s a home game. Maybe we can get a decent crowd in the stands. I’m not worried about that one
Last home game looked like the WAC days. UTEP and Walden won't have another good crowd for at least 2 years.

Agree with this. Been saying almost the same thing. This engine runs with the right horsepower. Right now the offense is powered by Shetland ponies.

Sucky Walden is 1-7 and at best he could finish 4-8. Based on history, he won’t be successful. He is also the first of these coaches to be able to turnover his roster and bring in his players from the start. None of the other coaches had that option.

Dimel went 1-11 in year 1
Kugler went 2-10 in year 1
Price went 8-4 in year 1
Nord went 8-4 in year 1
Bailey went 3-7-1 in year 1
Lee went 2-10 in year 1
Stull went 4-8 in year 1
Yung went 2-10 in year 1

Of that list only Bob Stull was able to move to another head college job because he was successful. Does anyone really expect Walden to be the first coach in 35-40 years to move on successfully from here? Keeping in mind, he is having a Dimel/Kugler/Lee/Yung type first season, but with his own players. Those other coaches didn’t have the transfer portal to start their teams fresh like he has.

We could have Tom Landry as head coach, and you would still complain.
Yeah, if he were 1-7 and lost to Southen Utah in front of 41,000, you ****ing bet.

You enjoy 1-7 records? It’s fun just watching ineptitude every week? Good times?

Did any of those coaches had a number 1 recruiting class?? Walden ran circles around all those coaches in recruiting. He embarrassed them all.

Like most of you, I'm not happy with where the season has gone. I also felt that Scotty needed to win early with all the transfers he brought in. Now I know if he's going to win, it's probably going to be in year 3. If his recruiting class is as good as advertised, they still need to develop and gain experience. We are about to pay MWC entrance fees and CUSA exit fees. For the people that are ready to part ways with Scotty, remember that we are not going to be able to buy out Scotty right now or anytime soon. Hopefully, his process pays off.

I looked at the last game's depth chart and noticed that we only had about 2 or 3 seniors on offense, so they really are young. He's playing a lot of his young guys that he brought in. We need them to mature quickly. Conversely, on defense, there's a lot of seniors which is concerning for next year. I think we have all seen that the defense is good enough for our level but the offense hasn't helped them. I hope to see some FBS transfers come in for the offensive line, defense, and QB this off-season.
