I think Walden needs to win next season. In CUSA you can afford to give a coach 4or 5 years, or sometime schools don't have a choice. They can't afford to buy out a coach. Utep will now be making more money and the pressure will be higher to win right away. I think a coach needs to win by year 2, Walden needs 6 wins next year . I don't think Walden gets 6 wins with the QBs he has right now, Chad Warner probably won't be ready next season. Shay Smith can't even beat out Pickles who can't throw. So i Walden needs a Grad Transfer or transfer for next year.
We don't know if Smith can or cannot... Walden stinks of loyalty to "OKG" of course we don't see practice. Either way, Shay Smith has 1 game left to play in, hopefully he gets his shot next week at home. Knowing Walden, he won't even consider it. Walden is a dud, stubborn, and pretty clueless on game management. They'd be 0-9 if not for the defense. KSU is going to whoop UTEP, sadly.
Just be patient. Walden’s never done this before, but he’ll figure it out eventually. I mean, he inherited a team that was ranked #8 the season before and in only four years, never quite managed to reach those heights again. But his positive attitude and cheerfulness will surely work wonders. Give it until year 4 or 5, and we’ll be hitting heights we never even knew existed.
With 3 games left, Pickles starts two more games and Shay Smith should start 1 (Tennessee). I wanna see Smith play the entirety of the Tennessee game. No reason to play Locklear anymore this year.
Why does Smith get the impossible game? I say give him nmsu.
What happens if/when Shay and Pickles get hurt?? Who do they after them? That Tennessee game will be a suicide mission for whoever is QB. I feel sorry for them.
I wanna see Smith against the best competition left. He has one game left and honestly I think Waldens plan was always to get him some reps against Tenn. Unfortunately Locklear got blown the f u c k up.
They won't win another game this season might as well see what the true freshmen can do. We'll see enough of Locklear when he's named stater next year.
Fair point, I suppose, but it feels a bit harsh to me and just fuels the Walden narrative that he isn’t ready. Well no shit Sherlock. The OKG’s get some of the weakest teams in the country, while the EP guy is up against the #4 defense.
Whatever happened to the parent that posted here?? I wonder what he thinks?? Would he like to see Pickles against Tennessee??
Then all the more reason to have him play the remainder of the season.
