Looking ahead to Louisville game

UTEP covered the 1H spread
UTEP covered the 2H spread
UTEP covered the full game spread
UTEP is 5-2 ATS

If UTEP can clean up the front court mishaps, and Barnes keeps ascending, no one and I mean NO ONE in CUSA (looking at you hicks Louisiana Tech) will want to face UTEP in March on neutral floor.

I do really think it affected the way the Miners played D, especially in the 2nd half.

2 fouls in the first 20 seconds really set the tone.
correct.

Birds were in the bonus first seven mins into the second half. Hate to blame the officials for anything but they def helped Louisville gain momentum early in the second half.

GREAT effort by our guys tonight. I usually shy away from blaming the refs but c'mon, man. We had some really bad calls against us tonight. I kept yelling at my TV for the refs to swallow their whistles a few times tonight.

That said, we can't leave it up to the refs even on the road. We played really well tonight. Barnes is coming into his own now. He's really blossoming. Bynum has already established himself as someone to be reckoned with. And nobody will convince me this season that Frazier is not our leader.

Big Ham. Oh, Big Ham. Has moments during games when he seems like he's finally arrived and then ... Kalu is Kalu. Terrell is still growing and I really hope he stays with us. I think he can be a beast the next couple of years. Camper is solid; like his game.

All of that already having been said, it's on Golding now. He either leads this team and makes us better or he doesn't. He's on the cusp of having a really good, *potentially* NCAA caliber team but he needs to find that ever elusive lineup or spot situation play that gets us over the hump.

I'm now convinced that he has the talent on this team with guys like Frazier and Bynum who I think are our best players right now. Get it done, Joe. Just fvcking get it done.

At some point don't you think Bynum needs to start? If not start but at least be there to finish the game. He only went in because Barnes fouled out .

I can’t even be upset with UTEP on that one. They play like that the rest of the year, they will win the conference. IMO, a depleted Louisville is still better than most teams in our league.
Every team other than maybe La-Tech and UTEP- UTEP should have won. They need to keep improving, the ref's cost this game, and Bynum getting a little hurt, along with Terrell's foul trouble. He may not score much, but he is a J Stone type player. He leads the team

It was a great game to watch, with the exception of the refs. The Yum Center is an incredible venue. It seats 22k and the crowd last night was a little over 11k, but it was loud. Each seat was cushioned, eating options were incredible, with several bars interspersed throughout the venue. All that to say, the experience made me wish that EP would get itself together and build (or renovate the Don) something compatible.

GO MINERS!

You want a 20k seat arena?? What eating options did they have?

Everything from fine dining for the suites and club areas, to BBQ, Italian, and other junk food. A 22k arena is not out of the question when you compare the metro population areas of Louisville and EP, cost of living, housing and average income. Both cities are pretty even, with the exception of not having the HQ for UPS, KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. But EP has PePe's Tamales, Chicos Tacos, and Cattleman's.

El Paso has way too many haters. We should have a modern arena by now.

The ball is in UTEP's court and to fly solo since the County said they will not partner for any bond reno funds, mostly for SB. The voters shot arena bond money down.

True. The ball is in UTEP's court. Every time I drive down from Dallas to Austin, I pass by The Paul and Alejandra Foster Pavilion. In many ways, I'm happy for Baylor. They have intentionally cultivated a strong relationship with one of their billionaire alums which is commendable. On the other hand, I only hope for the day that he can feel such confidence in UTEP to consider giving such a transformational amount to make something similar happen at UTEP. (I understand how much he's already given, btw)

Does Juarez care about Utep?? Does the Juarez news or newspaper cover Utep??

And Helen of Troy and Lucchese Boot Company and likely other's I'm not aware of. We need more business HQs in EP though.

If Utep played an actual game there would people show up?? Does Juarez have an arena?
Filiberto you ask to many "smart" questions, yes they do have an Arena, in fact they have two, The Gimnasio Universitario and the Gimnasio Josue Neri Santos.

Wow even Juarez is moving on up . Before you know it they will get a pro team.

Looks like Louisville is actually good. Should look good for Utep at the end of season if they need an At large bid.

The losses to Utah Valley and San Jose St outweigh any “good loss” that this Louisville would bring. UTEP is in the 100s in NET, they’re not getting an at-large.
Utah Valley is loss, while not great, isn't as bad anymore. They they've just beaten Grand Canyon and I think are undefeated in their conference. San Jose is still inexcusable.
