MBB recruit... Big Man, visiting UTEP

Great news! We need size and the signing period is just around the corner. Articles online have him ranging from 6-6 to 6-8. He averaged 8.9 ppg 8.5 rpg and 4.9 bpg. In high school he averaged 9 ppg, 3 rpg, 3bpg.

I believe that he is skinny but his coach did have this to say about him after a loss ...

“I thought Thik brought all he could bring,’’ Iowa Western coach Jim Morris said. “For a kid outweighed by 30, 40 pounds in there, he’ll go to battle.’’
 
I wonder what the status is with the other bigs UTEP is after. Norbertos Giga, Bigby-Williams, and JaCardo Hawkins. Hawkins and Giga are bigger bodies.
 
Wow he only played 8 min in non conf then went up to 14 in conf. Those are huge numbers for the minutes he played. Idk though if he can play 20+ min without foul trouble or if he has the stamina, but he is very productive when he's out there blocks, scores and rebounds

Anyone know of any other big guys we are looking at outside of the ones mentioned here or are these all?

I said i think . maybe he is related ? How many Bols are in the USA? Manute Bol had many children and other family members. Anyone know where the kid is from?
 
actually i did a little research. Manute bol was married to Ajok Deng

and Thik Bols mom is Alkeer Deng

thats the only research i did. So maybe they are related some how and both are from South Sedan.
 
Namon Wright is leaving Missouri. He was a big time 4-star talent out of high school who visited UTEP and chose the Tigers.

I wonder if Floyd is open to recruiting him as a transfer?

As a guard, he wouldn't fill our immediate need. But by sitting out a year, he'd be a Junior when Moore would either have used up his eligibility or be a Senior, depending on if he's granted the extra year.
 
He's 6-10 and had 19 points, 20 rebounds, and 7 blocks in his game yesterday.

I thought that's why we have the staff that we do, to get recruits like this.

Seems like the guys we've been going after lately are guys we don't have to compete for. Now that bigger schools are in the picture, its like we have to throw in the towel. If we end up revoking a scholarship of a couple players on this roster to bring in guys like Thik Bol, then its just another example of the piss poor job Floyd and his staff have done.

We are at the scholarship limit and are preparing to sign in the late period. Someone is going to lose their ride. If its gotta happen to make us better, then fine. But hopefully we get an impact player.

Ha it's okay for kuglar to go after not highly recruited players but its not okay for Floyd?

Yes, Cedric Lang was not highly sought after and went on to have career high's in Points and Rebounds his Senior year. 10 points and 6 boards per game. Lang had a decent career here, but if that is the expectation, it is yet another example of what the program has become under Floyd. We celebrate the mediocrity.

Not ok, but Floyd is the high profile coach who everyone wanted that came in and took over a Conference Champion. Floyd took over a program that went 15-1 and turned it into a program that lost to Norfolk State, UT-Arlington, UTSA, New Orleans, and 5 out of the last 6 to New Mexico State.

Kugler is trying to change the course of the Titanic. UTEP is a perennial loser in football and he's actually establishing an identity.

Yeah I woulda liked him to, that would make a huge change and possibly, put us over the top. It looks like we'll have to settle with a Plan B Big Man and hope he makes an immediate impact!
