Last night in the fourth quarter we had come back from a two touchdown deficit to tie the game at 30. We then get the intercepion our first of season. We have all the momentum and can go ahead. Higgins the proceeds to call three straight dives and we go three and out. We let them off the hook and let a shell shocked team with no confidence get the momentum back. Ive never been as upset about playcalling as I was during that series last night. Higgins got bailed out by Metz.

Higgins surrendered the play calling to his back up QB in the last two minutes of the game. Speaks volumes for both. Metz obviously has a greater understanding of the offense than the creator. So the question becomes, why keep the creator?

Kugler was out of the college game for ten years. His staff was limited to people he was familar with. Everyone on the staff was connected to Boise UTEP and Purdue. Stoker is the only coach on the staff that doesnt have a connection to one of those schools, and he is here because Choate left. Thats why i think he's loyal to Higgins I dont think he had another oc in mind. After ten years in the NFL I think Higgins was the only oc he knew and was comfortable with. He didnt cast a very wide net when he hired his assistants.

Well he should now! lol. Thank you for that explanation.

orangepiggy, you the latest incarnation of our troll infestation??????

No troll here Vegasminer. I just don't like UTEP having the worst statistical offense AND defense in division I football. When Higgins was UTEP's OC during the Nord era, do you remember what type of offense he ran? It was very different that the offense he is calling during games now. So what has changed? Did Higgins change his offensive philosophy, or is he simply implementing Kugler's run oriented offense? I really don't blame Higgins for our offensive woes. Higgins is simply following Coach Kugler's commands and implementing Kugler's style of offense. An offense which would have contributed to an 0-3 start had the backup QB not deviated from the run on first down, run on second down, maybe pass on third down Kugler offense.
