C'mon aren't you guys use to this by now, this isn't a head scratcher . All this means is the staff thinks he's better than someone on the roster or someone is being asked to take a long walk on a short pier (as usual). This is standard fare for CTF and his staff. Maybe they are offering a walk on spot, who knows. What we do know is this isn't unusual.
My point being that under CTF the state of flux with the roster is a constant , specifically his over singing of players.Lol. While I get your sarcasm develman, I have to admit that this doesn't make much sense to me either. Are you sure, Tuscon, that the offer wasn't extended before the Cameron and Barrett signed? And is he for sure in the 16 signing class?
Edit: Just looked and he is 2016. Also, verbal commits has him with one other offer, from mighty Portland State! He did get some good press as being a main reason why his Compton team is undefeated. Maybe somebody is leaving?

UTEP is not alone in the revolving door of scholarships year-to-year. My son is being recruited and it's abundantly clear that most school's offer is a year-by-year gig.Chris Barnes a scholarship for the 2016 season. I thought we were set at guard and what we needed for next season were a couple of big men. Grade on ESPN 59/1 star and on rivals he is a 2 star player. This is a head scratcher for sure.
Good find RT!!!

Barbee wasn't fired at UTEP. He took the Auburn job.

"From the start, Barbee had problems retaining players and building continuity on his roster. In Barbee's four seasons on the Plains, 12 players either transferred or were dismissed, Barbee signed 21 players in his four signing classes at Auburn."
