Well, that hurts. But I see lots of reason for hope. They're clearly better than this time last season.
UTEP is great at taking defeat out of the jaws of victory.
It's like nothing I've ever seen from any other team. I actually felt like we were going to lose in the final :50, not because we weren't playing well but because we always manage to lose close games against quality opponents
I was sadly waiting for it to happen as well. Unfortunately poise and mental toughness have never been attributes of Floyd's teams.
Only saw this happen once under Haskins, in the preseason NIT versus UCLA.

It appears that we will never win anything significant with Floyd running the show. I have never seen a coach shit away so many big leads. Never.
Every year there is optimism. Then we get a look at a Floyd coached team and remember that we need a miracle. No way this team should have lost this game. It's demoralizing and pitiful.
Did UTEP ever have a big lead? I don't think they ever led by double-digits. They came back from double-digits, though.

Big lead? I consider 7 points at about the minute mark a significant lead. Glad you are content that we came back from a double digit lead, went up by 9, and then let it slip through our fingers. We have different expectations.
UTEP scored 3 points in the 1st 5 minutes and only 8 points in the last 8 minutes. Its mental. The kids have to make good passes and make free throws to close out games. They need to relax and just play confident. Starting off slow offensively in games has been a common denominator under Floyd.
I was hoping to play South Carolina but not in the losers bracket! I didnt know they lost.
Im still optomistic for this team. PT and Omega didnt do much on offense and BSU is a top 3 team in the MWC. Still, horrible loss. They need to come out strong tomorrow and finish.

I'd like to think that South Carolina is now going to catch a pissed off UTEP team. Damn, should have won this game.

Yes, as pissed off as we all are for losing a game that the Miners clearly should have won, this Miner team looks like it will have a good season.
The mountain west is a one bid league so being in the top 3 is no great accomplishment this year. It would be like anyone else saying we are a top 5 team in CUSA (as there are more teams). As we know, that doesn't get you into the NCAA tournament.
Not Correct, MTN West has gotten more teams in the recent past than CUSA look it up.
Taking one peice of my comments and criticisng....well. I think we all agree that Boise St is a good team in a decent league right above our level. I think we all agree UTEP blew it and should have won. I'm not making excuses. It is what it is bottom line.

Yes, that is the past. Who cares about the past. (It's like saying UTEP has made the NCAA tournament in the past) They were a one bid league last year, and will be this year.
