New locker room

WHAT? I wasn't comparing it to Texas..., but it looks like Texas....?
Never have I seen such a contradiction using so few words! Fili, talk to your doctor and have him change your medication.

I don't have a doctor.

Fili, consider this: the Texas locker room cost $7 million in 2019, while ours cost $5 million in 2024. You say they look similar, that alone should answer everything. A $7 million project in 2019 would likely cost $10-12 million today due to inflation and the rise in construction costs. From my experience in the construction industry, I've seen firsthand how prices for everything—nails, lumber, rebar, and more—soared during the pandemic. Add in the disaster impact of bidenomics, and it's remarkable that UTEP managed to build a locker room similar to Texas's at such a lower cost.

Corona, Biden has nothing to do with costs. Post Covid supply issues, i.e-when Covid restrictions were lifted there were literally not enough truck drivers that the feds asked if states could lighten up state restrictions. Second, suppliers had to ramp up production. El Paso is kind of spoiled in that workers are more available than other areas (U.S. does have a tight labor market) so you can have lower costs. (during Covid it was flipped). Lumber and other material prices have come down.

Anyways, with inflation rearing it's ugly head, the TREASURY had to jack up interest rates. That was painful. This hurt the business industry (that tracks those materials you mentioned and yes their costs increased) I work in directly and it still is hurting; however, it was not Biden. The pain to stabilize the dollar after the previous POTUS actually spent more, printed waaay more and cut corporate and wealthy taxes to the point that they almost pay nothing compared to the middle class, always falls on the incumbent/opposing party holding power. I'll let you look up that last 50 years of who hold the honors and titles.

The rise in costs are a direct result of the idiotic policies this administration has put in place/removed. Tryin to eliminate gas has increased the cost of transportation, therefore raising prices of products. If you honestly believe the garbage you spew, maybe kamala will get you to believe the border is closed too.
The spamdemic was pushed by democrats (faucci, etc) so the world/country would be closed and they could lie about the elections. Closing the entire country except "essential workers" was the biggest scam ever done to our country. It forced prices up, and made the average person dependent on the government for help.
As for spending, if you honestly feel giving bazillions to the paid actor in ukraine, with politicians on both sides getting kickbacks is better than trump leading a great economy, then I honestly don't know how you manage to sell anything anywhere.

And BTW....pay attention today as the world economy collapses. Communism causes this and obama/biden/harris are the cause

Agree completely, Biden energy policy is the major cause of inflation. 90% of everything in the world depends on some type of energy. Most of that is oil and natural gas. Raise the cost of those and everything goes up exponentially. Anyone above a middle school education or a democrat would understand this.

What about Western Kentucky? They had theirs done in 2023 and only cost them 700k.

Friedman said the only reason for inflation is introducing new or excessive currency into the economy. Such as when you give every man woman and child $3600. Or passing a national budget which surpasses the GDP.

Western Kentucky just had a locker room remodel. It only cost them about 800k. It looks bigger and much nicer. Now I know Utep didn't spend 5 million the locker room. I wonder what they doing with other 4 million?? Maybe they getting a indoor practice facility??

Only Fili would say you can’t spend/see 5 million dollars in a locker room but can build a whole facility for the same price 😂😂

Ive got no explanation for that. I saw the pics of it and it looks as nice as ours. Maybe one of the local media personalities can do some digging around and write an article like this one.

Where does it say it was $5 million?

I’m trying to find stories on the locker room
My fault for trusting Fili on the numbers. Youre right. It was only 2.9 million. Still interesting that wku had theirs done for a fraction of that. Someone has some explaining to do...

I think I heard Walden say 5 million in TV interview .

Wait a minute you see I'm not crazy. It says right there in the article $5 million. I will wait for my apology.....

I'm waiting...🤨🤨🤨

I believe UNMs practice facility cost $5 million. I believe Uteps Locker room cost about 800 to 900k. Unless they bought some Yeezys shoes for every player, then maybe then maybe it goes up to $2mill. But I didn't see any shoes or PS5s inside the lockers , so i say 900k. So that means there is 4 million left . Now if they want to use that extra money for a blue chip recruit, I'm cool with that. Maybe they heard me say they would need to break the bank for the local QB. I think Utep would need at least a million to get him interested??

You're reading comprehension is poor. It say "...that will total $5 million in improvements by the time it is done." Looking at the timestamp of the article, it was written last night. Meaning, ready for this fili, the total $5 mil hasn't been spent yet.

Well I guess they have about 4 million of improvements still to do. We shall wait and see what they add...😉😉😉

And I will be expecting to see some whirlpools, sauna and steam rooms, Massage chairs. A cold plunge . I think that should be around 4 million.

Wonder if the contractor could’ve had materials “donated”. Doubtful any labor would’ve been donated but materials bought by donors, then “gifted” to the project sounds more plausible

I was watching some of the unveiling videos, there was a wall in the back that had a seating area and a television. I can’t tell, maybe someone has more information, but that’s where the showers were.

I am wondering about the orientation of the Locker room from the videos. Maybe, and I don’t know anything, they relocated the showers and bathrooms. If they used that are to expand that cost a lot to relocate plumbing and drainage.

I might have to go down there and sneak in and take a look. Where is the locker room located?

It's my understanding that a portion of the money that has been spent was on improvements to the locker rooms at the south end of the stadium.

Senter stated in last week interview it was broken into two projects. The locker room project and next year, all new shower areas next year.

Here is his take, so don't shoot the messenger nor Kap, but Senter stated that while their NIL is lack luster, they can improve the experience while playing for UTEP. Hours are spent in pre game and post game for these players and it all starts in the locker room.

He stated that he wants to move the LKDSC weight lifting to the first floor. You can hear the pounding of weights coming from the ceiling when people are on the first floor (i.e., visitors). He wants to redo the LKDSC that is more logical for players, staff and visitors and he wants he wants to ad a video room that most programs have but they don't. They have some type of hybrid video room that is not specifically for the football program.

Yes, he did mention that they are taking on new staff for the program to meet all the needs for the program. He implied there are donors who are stepping up to the plate but "you can't hit up the same donors" all the time. This dovetailed into the "money games" Senter had to schedule. Kap illuded to the increase early in the Price era that allowed UTEP to get out of some money games (and schedule a home game).

The NIL is tricky. If you’ve got big money and you can throw it around that’s one thing. Personally I’ll give to UTEP athletics because I feel like the improvements they’re making to the facilities etc are worthwhile lasting projects. But I’m not going to give my money to an NIL so some kid can get paid to come here.

Just do it and donate, don't worry about where the money is going. Don't you pay taxes?? 🤥🤥🤥🤥

And how much do you give? How many pesos do you kick over every year? Because you sure love criticizing everyone on this board. The biggest talkers usually do the least.

I bought a Utep shirt and hat at Walmart. I also went to a Basketball game last year and shot hoops in the practice gym. Oh and I bought a coke and hot dog at the game.
