I was thinking MWC needs another Texas School. It's important Texas State is the school they need. I also wouldn't mind Western Kentucky. Why haven't they been brought up??

If only the MWC would try and get Texas St, what a lost opportunity!

WKU hasn’t been brought up, because they’re in Kentucky.

If you learned anything from this realignment stuff, is geography doesn't matter. You know Liberty will say yes in a heartbeat and they have the money for travel. MWC needs to go after big name programs..

For those that don’t know, Davis is basically Sacramento. UCD has a better basketball facility than Sac St, better football one too, but not part of the package at the moment.

NMSU doesn’t bring anything new to the table in terms of market, athletics, or prestige. They’re probably being sidelined until the next round of realignment or whenever UNLV/Air Force get poached
NMSU will be there whenever the MWC needs a team, they’re going nowhere.

Does this mean that UCD plans to come up to FBS in football at some point? I don't understand what they add. Would anyone care to educate me? NMSU has to be pissed about this.

I don't think NMSU gets pissed until another football school is added. MW needs to add at least one more FB school, and I can only imagine they're waiting on the Pac to pick theirs.

Unknown at this point if they will jump up for football. They’re a “prestigious” UC school though and have a large enrollment. They also promised to spend more on men’s basketball than they currently do.

Brings the MWC to 18 conference basketball games, which is important since games are harder to come by. I would rather play UC Davis than Sam Houston or FIU.

That is bad business if they’re waiting. I don’t think they’re going after the same schools either though.

This makes the UC Davis move make a little more sense.
McMurphy has only reported "imminent moves" right before they were announced. I think this was decided earlier in the day but maybe NIU wasn't ready to announce and Davis was. Having NIU come in as a football only and Davis as basketball now makes sense. I also like the move because NIU can slide in as a full member should someone leave as Hawaii did.

It should also be noted that UC Davis has baseball and makes 8 schools in the MWC. Wyoming and us obviously, do not have baseball. Though not a big deal to us, getting another school with baseball is a big deal to the conference.

Decent Football Mid Major Conference. I’d say behind Pac12 and American Athletic and right on par or a tad better than Sun Belt. Definitely ahead of MAC and CUSA

I'm glad were going to the MWC, but its starting to feel like the WAC when NMSU finally joined. I really hope I am wrong AND that UTEP finally gets its head out of its a$$

Once N. Illinois is secured in Foorball today. Look for a package to net Utep at least 3 million a year which will be 4X what we are making in CUSA. Also better games for fans

There are very few teams out there that are “name brands” and also willing to join the MWC.

To people that know football. The fans that just go to the games and still wish Kugler was coaching, don’t know the difference between Northern Illinois and Sam Houston St

That may be true, but I also think CUSA is going to look worse 5 years from now.
