I don’t know what the f this means, but they might be joining for basketball next year

“GCU will join the Mountain West no later than July 1, 2026, but possibly as early as the second quarter of 2025 if permitted under the conference's bylaws.“

Call me old school, but I hope NIU and Toledo stay in the MAC. It’d be nice to see be in a regional conference for a change.
It would, but if the moneys right they’ll come. If MWC could’ve had their pick I think it’d be Texas St. for all sports, but they’re holding out for PAC 12 I think.

I rather have the Dakota schools than those two.
I agree or maybe N. Dakota St and Sacramento St. they have lots of money and have been pushing for FBS status and have a beautiful stadium on the way. I don’t love the Toledo/N. Illinois move, but I just think it’s a good chance it happens

Or even wait around and see what happens during the next rounds of realignment. Good chance some of our old Texas conference mates might be looking for a home.

I think Sam Houston is dumb to stay in CUSA if MWC gave them a shot. They’re leaving lots of money in the table if they did decline.

Thank you Sam Houston for being dumb. It makes more sense for them to stay in an eastern league. I particularly don’t want to be in the same league as them anyway.

Is chicago consider part of the west in the USA?
The Chicago Blackhawks are in the Western Conference of the NHL :)

Not to most people, but it doesn’t change the fact it’s half the distance than it is to Hawaii from El Paso. If you want to think Hawaii being in our conference is regional than so be it. Facts are facts. Chicago is a lot closer to us than Hawaii is.

Yea at least the airport is close to the stadium in Hawaii. Chicago to NIU stadium is like another 1 hour and half bus ride.

And then? The Miners football team would make that trip once every 2 years. Now, every single team is going to be flying to Hawaii. Still double the flight time than the football team would take once every 2 years.

That’s cool. I still don’t like it. Would rather get teams that are somewhat part of the western side of the states.

Should Utep put Mountain West logo in the Sun Bowl and Don Haskins Center? Liberty didn't wait when they switched to CUSA.

Grand Canyon is a great addition. St Mary's would also elevate basketball. Is that wishful thinking? Or has anyone heard anything about this?
I agree, but ni news so far. I’m sure PAC 12 will come calling though
