OT: Longhorn Offensive Lineman to make $50k annually

Gotta compete with Alabama now. UTEP may have a little difficulty matching this.
Non-Profit entity my ass.

This is not how the NIL was intended to be used, but it's the obvious outcome. Basically schools that have donors with big money will just keep paying more and more to recruit the best players. The NCAA should legalize paying players and get it over with.

Isn't that what the NIL is? It's just boosters money that was previously paid under the table. You want schools to start paying players? That's not going to happen with the likes of the UTEPs and NMSUs.

That’s why when the NIL was adopted, I said it was the beginning of professional college sports. The writing was on the wall.

It was obvious that all loopholes would be exploited by the “haves”.

Paying someone for NIL is supposed to benefit private business/company in return.

Paying some random player to come to your school just because they play a certain position (and it's a 'position of need) and saying that's it from a non-profit entity is not the intention of the rule. That player doesn't even have an NIL yet on the college level. What's next? 100K for each RB/WR or 500k for each QB?

I dont agree with it but might as well just start paying players. The NIL has already become a mockery. Yes the likes of UTEP and NMSU will be left out, but they already are..

Yes you did. I'm not being naive to the loopholes, just annoyed.

Most of the top recruits already go to the P5. I don't think it affects us that much. We're still going to be left over with the scraps. If we have a good coach they'll come and take him too. If someone in the G5 can overcome all those adversities and have a good program for a consistent time then they'll just let them in the club.

Well according to Natty, at least we have an upgraded conference to point to so we still win

You're trolling now. We've all been saying the same thing. We were in the worst conference in fbs and now we're still in it. Nothing has changed.

They need to upgrade their football stadium and get rid of the smurf turf.
No they don’t. That’s their brand. Unless the Big 12 tells them it hinges on their inclusion, they will not change it. Everyone knows of them, mostly because of the blue turf. It stands out.

The $10M is committed to the for-profit Clark Field Collective, not the Pancake Factory.

Please do explain...
It’s just a legal structure. Basically, donors give to one organization, which then funds others.

Instead of say a car dealer sponsoring a player and featuring them in their ads, this mechanism allows for multiple donors to fund multiple players for multiple businesses/causes. It’s a clearinghouse.

Why go after HS players? Offer the best players from schools that will not pay as much. Need a good WR for next season give our guy a call, tell him to get in the transfer portal and boom you got a established proven player at the position you need.

That’s happening right now. And not only proven players, but potentially good players who’ve been riding the pine.

Brand, oh heck yes. Getting into a power conference, it’s not working. P5 want Tier 1 schools, they are Tier 2 (AAC is a high mid major conference so please don’t bring up those going into that conference). Academic standing plays a major role. Vandy gives the SEC their “Harvard” credentials. CUSA had Tier 1 school with UAB tops with their great medical hospitals and research. UTEP is getting their as Wilson is bringing in a ton of research dollars. UTEP needs to just start winning and putting butts in the seats.
