OT: Sad Not to See El Paso's Name On This List

I think the plan is dead. They had a chance when Mountain Star Sports sponsored a exhibition game at the Sun Bowl and the game didn't draw a lot of people. I wish it would happen, but there are just too many cities ahead of us right now.

The ownership group was told El Paso was a long way from being a city ready for consideration. The owners decided to stop pursuing the idea and purchased FC Juarez. The hope is to have FC Juarez in the first division and bring big named teams intothe Chihuahua's stadium for exhibitions. Unfortunately, the games at Southwest Park haven't been well received.

Whatever happened to bringing an MLS team to the Sun City?

What happened is MLS has taken off in recent years, and the franchise fee went from $10m just a few years ago to $150m+ now. A new ownership group has to have at least $300m in financing to be considered.
