OT:Texas Tech medical school in EL Paso

Now back to , El Paso should have another university. Let's face it Utep is for the westside. Eastsiders dont come to Utep, because its too far for them. Texas A&M , should build a Texas A&M -El Paso on the far east side.

Another stupid, baseless statement. I know of at least 10 close friends, not including myself, who lived on the Eastside and attended UTEP at some point. It takes like 20 minutes or so to get from the eastside to UTEP.

It’s 2022, any eastsider who doesn’t want to do the 20 minute drive, can attend these things called online classes. UTEP and basically every other school offer them. You’re definitely a few fries short of a happy meal.

El Paso doesn't prosper because like on this board. There is a bunch of naysayers. The city is the same way. Ncaanowins is just one of thousands living in El Paso, that think the same way he does.

My house, from when I returned to El Paso in 2003 until I moved to San Antonio four years ago, was on the far east side of town. My two oldest sons commuted to UTEP. So did all of their high school friends who stayed in town.

When I went to UTEP I commuted from the northeast side of town. As did most of my friends.

Most people don't consider a 20-30 minute drive to be excessive. Plenty of people from the northeast, east side, central, and lower valley commute to UTEP daily, and don't think that it's a big deal. UTEP doesn't just belong to those people who live west of the Franklins.

Finally, UTEP athletics, with the only college games in town, doesn't draw well right now. Why do you want to take away a fair percentage of the crowd they do get?

If there was a University on the Eastside, would you not send them there?? Only reason they go to Utep is because it's the only university in El Paso.

The eastsiders arent going to the games though. I bet you if the Sun Bowl or Don Haskins center was on the Eastside, it would have better attendance.

Austin is about the same size as El Paso. I'm looking at Google maps. I count like 6 universities.
Tulsa: I count like 5.
Albuquerque: I see 7

I would say the majority of the people going to the games are from the east side. Next time, if you ever go to a game, check to see where all the traffic is heading after its over. Long lines on Mesa and I10 heading east. Long lines at Schuster heading east. I use to head North on Mesa and try and catch I10 east on Executive cuz there was much less traffic heading back to east side in that direction.

The reason why there is only one university is simple, MONEY. How many of UTEP students pay the full price for their education.
School’s are not going to come here if they can’t make a profit.
UTEP May suck at athletics, buy Nagy And Wilson have done a good job on the academic side. If you doubt that ask how we became a Tier One University.
I don’t usually agree with NoWins but he is a realist. Those of you with pie in sky wish list should put up the 100’s of millions dollars to make them come true.

What amazes me is why in the F do you guys engage in Fili’s silly scenarios. He’s like my 1st grade son who’s always asking random questions…one right after another!

Its an interesting topic to me. The Medical school isn't getting Team Sports.

But why doesn't EPCC have basketball and Football?

Southwest University? Highly unlikely but never say never. They should go NAIA.

Southwest University is to a real university as McDonald’s is to fine dining.

“SU” only requires a high school diploma and no SAT or ACT score. They are not regionally accredited either. Which I believe, disqualifies any students from receiving government owned financial aid.

NAIA has actual schools. Mostly in rural and division 2 sized schools. They are regionally accredited and require ACT/SAT scores. NAIA has different requirements than NCAA division 2. (Requirements are irrelevant here).

Southwest University would need to be a “real” school before they could join the NAIA. There is no difference between them and Western Tech, Joe’s Barber College, or a Clown College, other than their name. Which they probably did for marketing reasons, but they are unable to have athletics- at a NCAA/NAIA level.

I'm done with this topice. I'm already bored of it. I was thinking of starting another thread tonight. I was thinking:

1.OT:Malik Willis dropping in the draft.

Or

2. OT: Why haven't we sent humans to Mars?

Which one you think I should post??

Who is Malik Willis?

Haven’t been home in years. Has UTEP and the city put up UTEP logos on the highways or is it still just Texas Tech? Remember the last time I drove in and saw that shit…smh.

The Tech logos are still there.

There are some huge pick axes off of I-10 by campus.

One for both directions.

Can they start sports there?? Or why doesn't Texas Tech play a home game in El Paso? Is there room for them to build an arena around there?? Or I'm sure the downtown Arena, Texas Tech could rent out some home games there?
What about Southwest University, Western Tech, Park University in Ft Bliss, University of Samoa at El Paso (where Saul Goddman got his degree), Tec de Juarez, UACJ, UTCJ, Conalep, URN and Tec de Monterrey ?

I think somehow Texas Tech is going to move into El Paso in a big way. Texas Tech is already recruiting El Paso and making it seem they're the home school. You guys are laughing now but dont be shocked if Texas Tech moves in and UTEP will be taking a back seat. This is what i was talking about before that the local high schools need to do a better job in producing D1 talent. If El Paso is able to do that then i could see the Mountain west finally sending a invite to UTEP.

They are recruiting the high schoolers more heavily. At my old alma mater that my kid and godson attend they are recruiting somewhat heavily.

Wherever they have a Tech logo or flag UTEP needs to plant one right beside it, preferably twice as big and in orange not blue.

It seems to me that there is no such arena because the students have other priorities. Studying at such universities is usually difficult and time-consuming. All medical institutions in our country need highly qualified specialists ready to learn new technologies and improve their skills. But all the efforts made during training are worth it when you see the grateful eyes of patients or save a child's life. So if you want to develop as a medical professional, you should attend medical school. In that case, you might find it helpful to learn about https://www.trinityschoolofmedicine.org. I completed my training this year, and I feel special now. I would love to hear about the experiences of other graduates as well. How do you feel after graduation?
