El Pasos Skyline is pretty crapy i have to say. I wish it was better. I would like to see a taller building in downtwown. Maybe not a nuilding but someting tall like a space needle.

But what are youre favorite skylines that youve seen? In the U.S i like Miamis and Seattles. In other countries i havent been there but from pictures it looks cool. It would Panama City , Panama.

Worldwide, or America?

In the U.S I'd say Chicago has the best balanced skyline, but NYC is definitely the most impressive. NYC is currently in a building boom as well, so it's starting to look unreal out there.

Globally, it'd probably be Dubai, shanghai, or Hong Kong maybe

Yeah both U.S and Globally

In the U.S. I would say NY.
I have been to Hong Kong and Dubai, due to the attractive buildings
world wide I would say Dubai.
Singapore is starting to rise up to the occasion. Singapore gets an
honorable mention.

I visited New York last year and took an evening boat tour around Manahattan. The Tour Guide kept telling us where new skyscaper projects are being built and how these new taller buildings will begin blocking the view so that the Empire State Building wont be able to be seen anymore when looking at New York's Skyline from certain angles. With the constant amount of new buildings, he said one of the reasons why he likes to call it New York is because there is always a "new" skyline every couple of years. This relates to your point, because 45 years ago the Empire State Building was the tallest building in the world, but by 2021 it will only be the 8th tallest building in New York City(when not counting the antenna tower on top).

Speaking of the Empire State Building, if anybody is interested in the Stock Market you can actually buy ownership in the Empire State Building(ESRT) now at roughly $20 per share:

Harbor lights tour? I've taken that as well.

They essentially have a brand new skyline developing in the Hudson Yards that would put most cities to shame. These are the buildings that will block the ESB from many angles.

The really cool buildings are Steinway, Tower Verre, and this new building in Brooklyn. They're going to have some incredible lighting too

Yes, that sounds right. It was only around $30 per person, it lasts for 1 1/2 hours. It begins right before the sun goes down, so you get to see New York both in daylight and at night. It goes out around the statue of liberty and then under both the Brooklyn Bridge and Washington Bridge. Then it reverses goes back around New York so you get see it again at night. Our Narrator did a really good job of providing a lot of history. I would recommend it:

I dont think New Yorks is the best. I know they are building some new buildings. But i like how Dubi looks with its buildings. The buildings look futuristic. Same with tokyo and Hong Kong. I thin Chicagos is better than New Yorks. I like how the river goes through Chicago.

And about El Paso. Any ideas of how to make El Pasos Skyline look better? Why doesnt Juarez help and have any tall buildings? Lol

In terms of the layout of buildings, i'd def say Chicago is the best. It simply has a well balanced skyline. NY's problem is that the streets are built in a grid pattern, so the buildings don't sprout up in an organic manner which I think hurts the look. NYC has more buildings over 600ft than I think any other city on the planet, but so many get lost next to other buildings because of that grid pattern

I think a better investment is in Realty Income Corp (Symbol "O") - dividend yield of of over 4%, vs ESRT at 2%, plus they are much more diversified vs a few office buildings in the NYC area.

I have heard, but I don't know if it's true (or just one of those urban legends), that El Paso has a height limit on its buildings that has something to do with airplanes. We have mountains that the airplanes have to be mindful of on approach, and if they fly around the mountains it's troublesome if there are a bunch of tall buildings in the way.

Can anybody shed some light on this (one way or the other)? I'm curious.

Typically, all cities have height restrictions based on proximity to airports and the flight paths of aircraft.

I doubt El Paso has many restrictions since I don't believe any flights really go near downtown. It's definitely not the reason for the small skyline. ELP lacks an economy that would warrant a tall building

Thats why im looking forward to arena being downtown. Hopefully it will be a cool looking arena.

El Paso, Tucson and Albuquerque all have small Skylines. And Phoenix is improving, but for years had a relatively smallish skyline too in respect to its size. I don't know if it's a Southwest thing or what. That new Hunt Tower needs to be rethought and be built over 300 feet. Also those Condos on west side should've been built downtown.

Midland's Skyline is larger than ours, how sad, drove by this past weekend and shook my head!

You think maybe El Pasos downtown is in a bad location? I think the border of juarez hurts el pasos downtown to expand. Its to bad El Paso cant like move its downtown.

That has no impact. In fact, i'd say it was a benefit to the skyline decades ago. People are always excited to visit another country, so that probably helped fill hotels before the violence became so prominent.

It's economics. El Paso has no major industries, and no headquarters for major corps so the skyline will always be small

But El Paso has the neon McDonald's arches.

Not all cities have a large mountain on one side and an international border on the other. I could definitely see why some flights might need that path clear. Even if most flights can avoid downtown in approach to the airport, if there are even some, they have to keep that route open. Again, I don't know if there's something to that theory or not; it's just what I've heard in the past. If anybody can confirm one way or the other, I'd be very interested.

I don't know about tokyo. A lot of people mention Tokyo skyline as one of the best, but I think it's because they assume it is great. Truth is, they have a lot of older odd looking buildings which aren't very tall. They've always avoided tall buildings due to earthquakes, but that is changing with new technology
