I have not seen in my 46 year lifetime, a Miner team that fought this hard this late in the season. Next year is looking really good. I'm proud of them and happy with Kugler as the HC.... Way to go Miners! Even if you lost today you really won in the long run.

Damn - was really looking forward to seeing them come to DFW next weekend to become bowl eligible- will still be at the game, of course, loud and proud!
Still a good year considering how many players we lost to season ending injuries. Kugler and Stoker did a he'll of a job salvaging the season considering how bad the beginning of the season started out.
I am in complete agreement with you. I've been a Miner fan for almost 50 years and the way this team has fought through adversity and continued to compete is inspiring. There is no "quit" in this Miner team. Congratulations to Kugler, the staff and the kids on the team. Go Miners!
I'm proud of the kids but a loss is a loss, UTEP should have won this game.
As for Kugler, he needs to make changes to his strength coach, his camp approach, and or his off season training program. He also needs to do a better job of managing his team on the road. UTEP has an abysmal road record under Kugler.

Tough loss but I too am proud of the football team. Even with all the band aids they fought their ass off. Oh "what if" we didn't have all the injuries.
If UTEP wins next week, they will have 5 road wins under Kugler in 3 years. That is almost 2 road wins per year, which is not an abysmal place to start when building a Program. Oh and a 2 road wins per year average would likely rank Kugler as one of the top UTEP Coaches in that category in UTEP Football history.
NMSU doesn't count. A victory in Less Cruces does not count.
Usually I agree, but not this year. NMSU is on a winning streak and they may have the best running back in the country. Larry Rose will probably end up leading the country in rushing yards.
Rose is a stud, no doubt. But it's still NMSU and not really a road game.
What is Kugler's road record in CUSA? He needs to start winning some games on the road to get this ship righted.
Kind of fitting ending to this year, but this is going to be one of my favorite UTEP teams. They just keep coming back at you until the last down is played. I don't want to play what if, but if our walk-ons and third stringers are this tough I wonder what we could have done with a complete team. Kugler teams will not receive style points or amaze fans with their offensive prowess, but you have to credit them with toughness and sticking it out till the end. As a Miner fan I have seen too many teams quit or blow games because of a stupid play you can't say this about this team.
Great efforet, they really fought til the end, I really think if we make that fi3rd goal, the defense holds, they played lights out today. Sad for Maddox, I really thought that was an easy make for him
