How many times have we NOT sealed the lane as someone is driving? Way too many easy points for Rice today. Terrible defense.
We had two good opportunities on offense that we threw away, and gave up an uncontested layup on D. Thank goodness for that 3.
But of course we give up the offensive rebound after forcing the miss.

And the only reason the Miners reached 20% was only cuz Hardy went 4-9 for 45%. Everyone else was 0 fer. Frustrating af!

They still shot 50% for the game, which is NOT bad. (The three point shooting was, though.) Unfortunately, the "intense" D let Rice shoot it even better.
60% from inside the arc. Take away half of the 3 point attempts and we probably win by 8-10 pts (even with poor free throw shooting).
BTW 1st game against Rice we shot 53% from inside the arc and proceeded to miss 21 3-pointers! We lost by 5 in O.T.
It was pretty obvious the players Golding recruited this season weren’t scorers or shooters. The only fix is recruiting and it is becoming more evident that Golding can’t recruit.
These players play like the basketball version of Dimel’s recruits. Uteps players all have major flaws in their games which is none of them were highly recruited. Obvious Golding can’t cut it on the recruiting trail. Another dud hire by Jimmy.
