So it’s time to accept it, Golding isn’t leaving!

Imagine going to Applebees over and over again, even though they give you terrible service and food. That will show em!!!
I don’t understand the naïveté of some fans on here. They think we need to keep throwing away more money and time at this terrible athletic dept that keeps producing lower than average athletic programs and coaches. With the exception of Coach Wallis.

Ok well let me know how it goes when all 500 of you quit supporting … let me know how much of a difference that makes … good luck

Such bad logic, if we get more people in the stands then it is going to appear as if Senter is doing his job and getting butts in the stands and that he must be doing something right if the fans are still supporting this terrible,‘descending program. It would give Wilson a reason to keep him longer. We can’t keep wasting our money if our AD and President don’t give a crap about the fans voice, opinions, and support
Then don’t complain when there’s no extra money for buyouts/better coaches etc

$$$ makes the world go round. Sell outs and having multiple losing seasons isn’t a way to keep a coach around but it is a way to have that $$$ saved for firing early.

Ok, this has been thrown around a few times. Luckily, we have many other programs to look to, to see if this in fact true??? Name 1 program, that this mentality has worked for? Please don't use B12,B10,SEC, or ACC teams. They have enough money for buyouts... Any other CUSA, MWC or AAC teams that have BIG support, and fire their coaches because of that fact?

The signs have been clear for a long time, yet when I spoke up about the inevitable, I was dismissed as a troll. I wasn’t trying to tear anything down, I was simply calling it like I saw it. I shut the f up and UTEP athletics continues to struggle. It’s clear that the concerns I raised weren’t negativity; they were reality.

That said, I still wish UTEP the best. But as long as Senter is in charge, expect more of the same, if not worse.

I don’t know why no one can comprehend the fact that having more people in the seats equals more power ….we need to fill up the sun bowl and the Haskins center and the. You have much more bargaining power as a fanbase

If we have 4000 fans going to a game and it gets cut to 2000 no big deal… but if you have 10000 and it gets cut to 5000 people will notice
Umm…that isn’t how it works. Give one example of your theory at work.

Winning = full stands
Losing = empty seats

It has always been that way. How do full stands give fans bargaining power? A packed house spells satisfaction. That’s why Senter is always bragging about leading CUSA in attendance, despite never having winning records in conference play. What kind of bargaining power has leading CUSA in attendance created for fans?

EXACTLY! Seems like our support and money that exceeds other schools in our conference isn’t helping so might as well try something new. 👍🏽 and we can’t even count on our terrible AD to buy a coach out anyway even if we had the money.

It hasn’t worked for the Cowboys and Jerry Jones!

By this logic, when people were angry at Bud Light they should have all rushed out and bought a case whether they liked it or not just to teach those bastards a lesson. Nothing tells a business you are angry with them like throwing money at them. DB Miner, please tell me how I can make you angry enough at me to throw money at me.

Don’t you see? That’s exactly what’s happened. It didn’t happen overnight. Since our last NCAAT appearance, attendance has dropped from the mid-8,000s to the 4,000s. The fans have been sending a message for years.

Glad to see you back. Must have been celebrating that massive win over Liberty for a long time!

Golding isn't leaving but I think many of us fans are ready to. We're like an abused spouse. They keep telling us to leave that abusive partner but we come crawling back believing that they will change one day. Some of us have even internalized that it is our fault for getting hit in the face too many times

It is what it is, now let’s hope that there isn’t an extension or at least that’s it’s favorable for Utep to be able to get out of if Golding flounders again next year. With that being said who do you think returns next year. I don’t know or necessarily think returning everyone is the best thing. I’d personally only like to keep 3 Terrell, Barnes and Jones everyone else is pretty expendable. I would’ve said Bynum, but he’s gone. There’s a couple that didn’t play this year so I don’t know much about so I’d just say those 3. Thomas maybe, but he seemed very timid as a Freshman and I didn’t see much improvement. Since Golding is likely staying, give us a new recruiting assistant and an overhaul of transfers!

Tim Floyd, Terry, Golding…. All failed to take us to that next level and the NCAA! On paper many of us liked these coaches. We talk crap after the fact, but I don’t think they were bad hires at the time. What do we think is at the root of the problem, really? Lack of money? Last time I saw we put the most resources into Men’s Basketball in the Conference.

Bad luck. Who could have imaged that Tim Floyd would end his career as a dud?
We thought we had a good one in Terry but we were wrong. Golding was a risk but many of us wanted a young energetic coach. He might be a good coach by the time he's 60, but he hasn't arrived yet..

Look at their coaching staffs. Not one ex-UTEP assistant coach under them moved on to a D1 head coaching job.

I wanted Barbee to stay, but I thought CTF was a great hire. Losing Moultrie right away was a killer, but then the constant drama and player turnover was a killer.

Wasn't sure about Terry, but loved his recruiting. Too bad he over recruited and ran good/exciting players off.

Didn't want Golding, but gave him a year to see if he could recruit. He was done after the second cycle. The randon subbing and singular defense are annoying too.

Keep Hamilton too. No way Golding can recruit another big man.

Regardless of who ever returns, it'll be a building season (can't call it a "rebuild" in good faith). But I expect a few transfers.

And getting a good assistant that can recruit is unlikely (unless Golding did get a contract extension). A good assistant isn't going to take the job under a lame duck. And do we really trust Golding to find a good assistant?

At this point, I'm getting apathetic with the basketball program. Very close to becoming apathetic with all UTEP athletics. I'm hanging my hat on football turning it around. Recruiting has been fantastic, but won't mean much without Walden improving as a head coach.

I can't fault Stull and Senter for hiring these guys. I was super excited about Floyd, and was good with the Terry and Golding hires. What I can fault is the fact that both ADs kept coaches long after it was obvious that they were not getting the job done. We were so lucky that Beard hired Terry away, now if someone would just take Golding off our hands (I know, there's nothing Golding would bring to the table as a P4 assistant 😮‍💨).

Maybe Ole Miss needs a bench screamer.
