If the players got to decide, El Paso, Boise, Albuquerque, Mobile, and Montgomery would be the last choices every time.

That’d be cool. We used to play in it in the 50s and 60s. However, won’t happen with bowl/conference affiliations.
Swap out with one of the Pac 12 schools. They dont like coming to Sun Bowl anyways. TCU came to the Sun Bowl when they were in CUSA.
Nobody has brought up the Sun Bowl. I thought it was in the contract that UTEP could play in the Sun Bowl.
I seriously doubt the community would come out to watch the Miners get their asses handed to them by either a PAC-12 or a Big-10 or a whichever other conference plays in the Sun Bowl team. Attendance would be horrendous.
The B10 didn’t have enough bowl eligible teams that year and there’s no way in heck I want UTSA playing in the Sun Bowl.
It’s beyond dumb to suggest or want UTEP or UTSA in the Sun Bowl. Not happening. Things were way different in 1998.
Utah played in Sun Bowl when they were in the Mountain West.

Utah was already in the Pac 12 the last time they played in the Sun Bowl.
Nationwide audiences say differently. I would rather watch UTSA in the Sun Bowl vs Boston College, but CBS would rather put Oregon St vs BC. Cannot blame them for that. If you don’t like the matchup, don’t watch or attend.
Not to mention we have contracts with P5 conferences. If a p5 goes undefeated they're playing in the playoffs not the Sun Bowl.
I dunno, special resident. I wouldn't have minded seeing an Ed Orgeron led Louisiana State play in the Sun Bowl. But that's just me, I suppose.
I thought it was the WAC.
But it was because the Big Ten, I believe, didn't have enough teams to fill their bowl slots, TCU got lucky. There weren't many other teams available, although some of us thought the 9-2 UCF team with Daunte Culpepper was worth a look.

oh how fun get to watch ASU again and getting to here their fans complain about being in the Sun Bowl. Oh and lets not forget most of the good players skip the game.

It's one of the best games around when it comes to local support. They always show up and give it a good crowd; it looks great on TV.
ASU, USC and UCLA all bitch about coming here to play and I don't care to watch a "Namer/Lamer" team limp in here and pretend it means something.. It's all about TV sets and who watches not about quality or local support.
