UTEP with 5 wins since 1970. They play in a small gym and play in a smaller conference than UTEP. #BasketballSchool #OneBidLeague

Wonder how they’re able to win and recruit with less than 1,000 fans per game. Really strange.

It's a Jesuit school with an enrollment of 3000 students. Cost is just under 40K a year flat rate tuition. They are more like Liberty than us. They have resources. Also sit smack dab in the middle of a plethora of basketball rich talent at every neighborhood playground. Not an excuse. Just the facts.

Their endowment is $37 million. They aren't in the same league, not even the same galaxy, as Liberty if you're talking about $.

They also have 1 player each from the Central Africa Republic, Puerto Rico, Los Angeles and 2 each from Mali and Senegal. And they’re recruiting up against the Big East, A10, and like 50 other mid major schools in that area too. Name two wins the Miners have had since 1992 that are as good as their wins over Kentucky and Purdue.

It doesn’t matter how small the school or if they’re lucky to make the tournament once every 15 years, they’re winning more and better games than us. I’m tired of it.

I think it starts with the head coach. To succeed, you need a coach that cares for his players. A coach needs to build a team with confidence and a team that isn't afraid to fail.

I think Golding fits the bill. Now he just needs to recruit like it and keep growing as a game manager.

I can't. It sucks terribly. I'm a Miner bb fan caught in a 30 year drought. I hate it as much as anybody. Why do you think this tiny ass school is doing so well? It's amazing what they're doing. Fun to watch. They are an anomaly, like Loyola Chicago, or Florida Gulf State.

Looking back at the last 20 years, it's been some bad matchups and a lot of missed opportunities.

In 2005, we got a bad matchup with a thoroughly average Utah team except for that Bogut guy.

I think most of think we should have made a run in 2010 if the NCAA didn't screw us by giving us Butler. But we earned that 12 seed. Blew a 10 point halftime lead vs. NMSU. Blew a 12 point lead with 5 minutes left against #20 Mississippi. Blew a 6 point lead late at #20 Texas Tech. Lost 2 of 3 to a meh Houston team If we go 4-1 in those games instead of 0-5, and we're looking at maybe a 4 or 5 seed.

Then you have the randoms. Choking away the 2011 tournament. We had a chance to beat #3 Arizona in 14-15 and then got upset against MTSU in the tournament.

Good on St. Peter's for making the most of their opportunity this year.

Depends on what resources you are talking about:

Yep, clarified that. Mainly meant players they have access to. 10 of their 15 guys are from, or played hs/prep ball in, NJ or NY. 2 more played out East. That area is saturated with really good players who will never get on the map…unless lightning strikes like it has with SPs.

I did make the mistake of assuming they were better off financially than they are. Someone I know mentioned enrollment fees and I just figured they were better off than they were. Bad comparison to Liberty. My bad.

Matchups, coaching, players hitting the eighth shots and luck.

Beating Sweet 16 Nevada and the Globetrotters that beat everybody else including Syracuse.
The Globetrotter game doesn’t count. Nevada was a conference rival and they made the Sweet 16. They also beat us 2 out of the 3 games. Not the same as beating 2 Seed Kentucky or 3 seed Purdue

I had not watched UNC all year. Their starting front line is pretty damn good. 18/18 at the half.
