Here's the bottom line... all colleges have different themes for every home game so saying "don't do themes, just win" isn't an option.

I've seen many gripes here about military night and Chuco Night, etc.

Military/ Heroes night is always going to happen. Every team had done them since as far back as I remember.... but what theme nights do you LEGITIMATELY think would be successful? Are we just spoiled for "give me free stuff"?

So what are your ideas?

I really don't think any theme night is going to bring in fans. The only time recently there have been long lines to enter the game is when there is a giveaway (which is rare).

Yes. As far back as the El Paso Diablos games at Dudley Field El Pasoans have always wanted some "gimme something." Back when I was playing little league baseball and going to Diablos games and walking back home through the Concordia Cemetery at what seemed like midnight -- probably was midnight by the time 10 year olds got through there -- Diablos games offered 10 cent hot dogs and 10 or 25 cent beer nights. Those were the most fun and awesome fvcking nights you could ever have with or without your parents.

Until the Miners start winning big games consistently again, Jim Center needs to do crazy shit like this to get butts in the seats and recreate the experience El Pasoans used to have with the Diablos and -- YES -- with the Miners in the 80s. Give us cheap beer. Give us cheap hot dogs. Not those $50 tickets and $9.50 beers like I and 5 more of my family members endured this past Saturday against Liberty.

Winning will cure all ills. But until we get there, rabid fans in the seats will create the atmosphere needed to propel our teams to truly perform to their ultimate potential. They (Miners players) hear us. They feel our energy and love. And we can give them more. And we NEED to give them more.

No Joseph. The game was sold out against NMSU and they were god awful. They NEED to give the fans more, not the other way around.

So the players aren't performing to their ultimate potential because every game isn't sold out? LOL You truly are a moron.

Themes and promotions exist for every game. This is the point of the post. They aren't going to go away which is why I asked what you want to see.

So says Bob the Autograph boy who is ashamed of his own hobby. Bob here doesn’t even admit to his own hobby of stalking dugouts for autos from 20 year men.

Dude, you need some help. I have no f u c k ing clue what you're blabbering about.

Plus, if getting autographs was my hobby I wouldn't be ashamed. You also need to learn the definition of what the word "stalking" means.

I am sorry you worry what other people think about you. I don't give two f u c ks what you think about me.

But yeah, if you want me to admit, then fine I will admit it since that will make you happy. I chased Kevin Kalu all the way to his dorm to get my UTEP cap signed. He's a nice guy!!!! 😂 😂 😂

I agree with the 10 cent (became 25 cent) Hot Dog Night packed the Dudley Dome and Cohen. Fireworks were always huge and the San Diego Chicken (I think he’s retired).

The Baltimore Oriels have kids under 9 are free. If you buy a Ticket you can get up to 2 free tickets for kids under 9.

I say themes that bring in the kids. They need to be exposed to the games so they will take their kids to games and keep the fan base going.

A superhero theme night where you get 5 tickets, 5 hot dogs, 5 sodas , 5 pop corns for $60!and a UTEP basketball plastered with company sponsored logos. The parents and kids can dress up as their favorite superhero.

I agree with Fedup. It's all about the kids. I got hooked on Haskins/Miners because our then elementary coach asked Don Haskins if the girls and boys teams could meet the team. I was told he said bring them on over after practice.

Free food. But UTEP can't do that so I would do $50=5/5/5/5.

Utep can do free bottomless popcorn every game. Popcorn is cheap. Fans will chow down on popcorn and be thirsty as hell from all the sodium in the seasoning and buy water, soda, and beer all game.

But is that going to bring more fans to the games? I really don't think so.

best bet to get people to come is to have a "VEGAS NIGHT" hotel and flight for a three day, two night stay at one of the better hotels.
Plus $500...
extra 5K to come on out to get the prize.

All of these ideas, and I don't say this rudely, would fall flat.

Value concessions are helpful, but won't move the needle.

UTEP gear as giveaways doesn't attract the casual fan, only us who would want that stuff.

And El Paso is too poor to shell out $500 for a Vegas theme, although I like the creative thinking.

Look at the football home opener every season... when all the cheerleaders, dancers, etc. perform at halftime.

UTEP needs to find a way to recreate that multiple times a year. You always see people at those games who for the most part wont attend any other game.

Yes, that's football so not sure how you translate it to basketball. But a high school band night... middle school band night... cheerleaders from both age groups... dancers... squeeze everything you can out of that rock and then hope value concessions, an intriguing giveaway, and at least a competitive game help to create some new fans along the way.

$500 is for the winner of the Vegas trip

I like the trading cards. Cool for kids and the players
