Their rationale is that El Paso's hospitals are all at capacity so they wouldn't be able to accept any players injured during the game.Ridiculous
I don't disagree. That's just the pretense that they're going with.I highly doubt El Paso’s hospitals would deny access to a UNT player if there’s an emergency.
Gov. Abbott was specific for FBS schools: "play ball!!". I don't like Abbott but all schools were "we wanna play. We agree with protocols" and CUSA went further and enhanced it more aggressively.I was unaware of this part:
“El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego has proclaimed a county wide lockdown and that UTEP would not be able to host the game because athletic and entertainment events are not categorized as essential businesses. Simply put, the Sun Bowl in El Paso would not be able to host the North Texas - UTEP football game.“
Is that correct, was UTEP unable to host the game even if UNT agreed to come? I was not under that impression based on what I read earlier in the week.
CUSA isn't going to give us a loss! It's very simple. This game had nothing to do with a violation or due to any cases on Utep. Therefore a forfeiture given to Utep would I'm sure violate NCAA rules during Covid. N. Texas is still the only ones that would face forfeiture if they don't reschedule, despite what this stupid board with all 10 N. Texas Fans say!Too bad CUSA can't see the injustice here and take a stand on unacceptable justification for backing out of a game and issue punishment accordingly.
Es más, if they come to El Paso in December break heating and or plumbing in the opposing team locker. F-*ck ‘em.F*** them! Hope Dimel keeps this bs as bulletin board material and we curb stomp em.
That's my point. UNT should be the recipient of forfeits; not us.CUSA isn't going to give us a loss! It's very simple. This game had nothing to do with a violation or due to any cases on Utep. Not even close. Denton and Plano are probably 35 to 40 miles apart.Wasnt this the same area of Texas where they didn't want to play the high school team here in El Paso?? Because of the walmart shooting??
Bingo. As I said in another thread, the Sun Bowl is the safest piece of real estate in west Texas because UTEP is aggressively fighting it and the staff is working practically 24/7 to keep the team safe.CUSA isn't going to give us a loss! Hey Fili! Guess it depends on how you define "area". Its a 37 mile drive. There are about "five" school districts located between Denton ISD and Plano ISD. Would you consider Canutillo and Horizon City to be the same area?actually it is really close. That is the same area of Texas
35 miles apart is not far.
When you talk about El Paso it includes those two plus Anthony, Socorro, And a few others.Hey Fili! Guess it depends on how you define "area". Its a 37 mile drive. The east side and west side are what 25 minute or more drive time, depending on traffic.
I tried to post on their board, but they chose not to allow it ,so it will remain my secret. Sure hope F I U doesn't back out this week.who cares about c unt? The coaches and their players all pussed out. Call it what you will, but them bitches yellow
Are Horizon and Canutillo in the same area?
Ah ha! So you are talking "great big" area; not small area. If you wanted to you could consider the entire Metroplex as one area, which includes 6-7 million people. My point is that there is no basis for comparison between Plano and Denton when discussing the Plano Eastwood football game and the UTEP-UNT football game. They are two completely separate communities. There might be a UNT fan or two living in Plano, but there's probably more SMU fans.Yes they are. They are part of the El Paso southwest Texas area. Denton and Plano are part of north central Texas. Would you not say there is North Texas fans living in Plano????
7.5 million almost 8 I live here. Denton and Plano aren't considered close or same community by any means so you're right.Ah ha! So you are talking "great big" area; not small area. Disappointing that geography is not standard curriculum in schools these days.Nothing better than a good Geography debate
There aren't many more UNT fans living in Denton either.Ah ha! So you are talking "great big" area; not small area. Traveling 35 miles? Not sure I understand your point. Who said it was far? FYI, I lived in EP until 1977 when I moved to Dallas. "AREA"...Again; is a general and broad reference. Could be a square mile or 500 square miles. As nattybry said, Denton and Plano have no connections of any kind. Plano's reaction to Walmart and Denton's reaction to EP's COVID19 dilemma???would you consider Las Cruces and Juarez part of the El Paso community???? Whould you say they are in the same area of El Paso??? Minerliner must have never traveled outside of EL Paso. 35 miles is not far. Maybe for El Pasoans it is but not for everyone else....
