UTEP at Charlotte

**** these refs! Jesus they had one guy surrounded by our 3 and the guy calls us for over the back? BS!

Not long after he called Williams on an even more BS over the back on the offensive end. These guys suck ass!

At least we got to see a good half.

The first half was the second-best half the Miners have played in all of conference play.

Coach Sanchez defensive scheme in letting Villa’s man roll off and help double Williams every time he touches the ball isn’t recognized by utep coaching staff or they simply don’t give a f***. Vila is a liability offensively and defensively, and every coach in the country recognizes it but ours

Vila with a pussy foul on Bamba. 7 footer reaching in on help defense. Sit down.

Charlotte needs a basket and their coach runs a play that gets Bamba with a mismatch on the block against one of our guards.

On the flip side, we then have the ball on the very next possession and our offense is a dysfunctional passing around the perimeter with our big man shooting a contested 3.

What is very odd, is that the ref who called the ball out on UTEP had the same angle as the camera angle that appeared to show it off of Charlotte?

I could understand if the Ref under the basket, not having a good angle, made the bad call off Efe, but not the Ref that made he call. That was very odd/suspicious/whatever.

What another colossal of a collapse by the Miners! Finding new ways to lose, Villa looks lost out there, etc, etc! This has to to be one of the most overrated rated/hyped basketball teams in UTEP History?

A loss is a loss, but at least we made some shots. Again, the offense down the stretch was awful. Your guards have to take over at that point and drive aggressively. The offense will never work relying on your PF to bail you out from the perimeter. We got beat by another team with guard play that won the game.

As much as we got hosed by the refs time after time, we gave this game away...again. Very uncharacteristic of Williams to force the game, especially from 3. He made some really bad decisions tonight when it counted.

We had two guys who should’ve taken the majority of the shots down the stretch. Have to identify who is hot and get them the damn ball. This is elementary level shit.

We are a terrible second half team. Not sure what we are doing in the half time locker room coaching wise?

So we got outrebounded by 10.

We scored 1 FG last 6 minutes.

ZERO rim defense outside of Williams

On the bright side, we did well in protecting the ball

Oh and we get Vila for another year. Yay.

Williams is our best player by far, but he was forced to take some bad shots. Your guards, and your PG in particular, need to be able to step up in that situation.

Agree, but Williams didn’t have to take that last 3 he took. In my opinion he was far from forced on that one. There was time on the shot clock to get a better look. Do agree the ball should’ve been in Boum’s or Edwards’ hands down the stretch.

Who knows? Maybe they would’ve just continued to whip the ball around the perimeter until there was 1 second left on the shot clock, then chunk it up from the cheap seats anyway.

Yep, I do agree the ball needs to be in one of the guards' hands. Really, it is Lathon that needs to make a play, but he just doesn't lead. Because of that, I think it would be better to have the play go through Boum. I agree with Terry when he mentioned that they just don't know how to win going down the stretch. The thing I am not sure I agree with him is that it is just growing pains. It bothers me that other teams have freshman point guards who make plays/lead their teams down the stretch. I'm not sure our point guards will develop into guys that can lead/take charge when you need them to.

Howdy Boys,
I was very fortunate to spend last night with my wife, granddaughter and her husband who treated me to dinner and a showing of
" Casablanca" at The Majestic Theater. What a great evening it was and on way home at about 10:30, I suddenly realized that not once did I wonder about the Miner game. This has to be a "First" for me. Got home and looked to see the outcome only to find that I had missed a replay of the same script of previous debacles.
As I said, "I was fortunate to have had an alternative".
Ahhhh the drama. Now it's Archie. Looks like Efe had fewer minutes than he should and where were Stroud and Tarke? Who got the "T"?

Watching between work and the game and I did not witness anything. What did hear is the play by play announcers comment on the baffling calls by the refs a couple times. "I thought it was out on Charlotte but they said UTEP...." or something to that end.

Edwards got the T after making a big 3. Mouthed something to the ref. We actually had a nice lead for most of the first half and parts of the second. Had a chance to comeback at the end but couldn’t hit FT’s.
