Yes really, the Lobos have finished Top 25 nationally in attendance for the past 50 straight years.
The only stupid post on here is the ... really stfu! I have been saying it for a long time, the fans leaving is taking away one more thing utep has to offer .... its stupid !! But to each his own!

You can not blame anyone for not showing up to games. Every time UTEP has a poor season whether its in football or basketball, Stull spins it and says the season was a success based on attendance as opposed to the overall record. Any coach anywhere knows, you win people will come out in droves. Look at the 49ers right now. They can't give away tickets to a home game even if they tried. Yet it was just a couple of years ago they hijacked AT&T stadium.
I take offense to anyone telling me I should " learn from Lobo fans. I have spent the majority of my life havind a distinct hate for that obnoxious fan base and probably should have worded it differently but it is what it is.

El Paso is a front runner town, always has been and always will be. You have your diehards,but for mass appeal you have to win and the buzz has to go viral.

All this market cares about is what's in. Whether it's a Dak Prescott jersey, a Whole Foods, or a sporting event...if that's what the buzz is that's where the people are at.

You pretty much described about every city in the country.
People are loyal to the Sun Bowl, musicals (there is a reason Wicked has been here twice), Diablos (they were supported very well for many many years). I know the team is new, but you have to add the Chihuahuas in that mix. What El Paso wants is quality entertainment. All of those items I mentioned are quality entertainment.
You show me a team that doesn't suffer an attendance drop after consistent losing. Every fan base has increased support when they win and decreases when they're garbage.

Yeah. Thats why I go to games, donate my money and support the team. You've figured me out. It's really easy for someone to say they would go to all the games when they dont even live in town and thus go to NO games..

True. But at the same time its been how many years and we have not sniffed the NCAA Tournament. There was a thread up a couple weeks back that asked what was expected of both football and basketball and it seemed like the concensus was fans expect an NCAA Tourney bid every couple of years. And given that standard the program has underachieved during Floyd's tenure. Couple that with everything going on this season it's hard for people not to be restless.
I say that because when I lived in El Paso from 1985-1997 when I moved I went to every game unless I was sick.... through the good and bad!
Their team might not be good and they have a very good attendance, however the big difference between them and us is that they DON'T KEEP a bad coach for 7 years. So yes please........................... Thank you!!!!!

You don't have to feel sorry for Floyd or Stull they're millionaire's feel sorry and defend the working class that spend they're hard earned money on this coaches product he's trying to sell us on.

The argument can easily be made aginst those people who show up to games and line the Athletic Dept's coffers (Of which I am guilty of). By showing up and paying money we're perpetuating the mediocrity here at UTEP. How many times does it need to be pointed out that whenever there's a bad season Stull is the first to point out the silver lining that is the program's higher than average attendance. Now he may just be trying to put a positive spin on an otherwise disasterous season, but at the same time you can not hold it against any fan for saying they would rather withold their money as a sign that they do not agree with the direction of the program. Many posters have said on this very board that they are not renewing season tickets until there is a change and if they feel that strong then so be it. It's obvious that all the complaining in the world won't fix what ails this program. The media for the most part won't hold this program accountable for their failures. I'm not going to apologize for anyone who feels inclined to withold their money, because that's probably the best shot to make any change whether you like it or not. Money talks, plain and simple. Now whether that damages the long term health of the Athletic Department remains to be seen. But that's where Bob Stull, as Athletic Director needs to get his sh*t together and read the writing on the wall and make a change before we get to that place.

UNM hasn't been losing consistently. They went to the postseason (Big Dance or NIT under Alford) and so far has been to the Big Dance once under Neal.
