UNM is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Pit and the Alb Journal has an article naming the Elite 8 games there over those 50 years. UTEP over UNM 71-70 in OT in the paper cup game of 1986 and UNM over UTEP 59-58 in 1976 with the UNM black players boycotting the game because of Ellenberger. The paper cup game was the best attended of all the Elite 8 games and my wife, a Lobo, was there with me. Super loud and great Miner win!
