Been saying Canales is likely gone, but the real problem is upstream on offense. I would be surprised if Canales is brought back, but this is UTEP, so you never know.

Utep is 5-5 against rice in the sunbowl......hopefully it will be 6-5 after today...need to end with some positivity.
What the hell.....Hardison is not a runner!!!!
It is insane to bring in a quarterback with a completely different skill set and keep with the original offensive gameplan. It just shows how inept this staff is.
If all we're going to do is run the QB every play, we might as well line up Kavika Johnson in the wildcat.
So UTEP apparently did not make any half-time adjustments again. 10-0 for Rice so far in the 3rd quarter.....and that is against the wind. Somebody said earlier this week, that we have Plan A and Plan A only. This seems to be underlined in the way that we have now run Hardison 4 times on QB designed runs.
Well, now that we're down, they'll pretty much have to let Hardison throw it.

That right there is the perfect summation of the game. Playing a garbage kicker because he’s a senior. Running the wildcat with a pass first QB. Not going for it on 4th down and immediately giving up a game sealing TD. This coaching staff is just as bad if not worse than the players. Is Dimel more concerned with winning games or making sure all the kids play? He should coach T-Ball then.
All year Dimel has made ignorant comments comparing this year’s team to last year’s team, claiming that we are falsely improving. Like last week he actually said that “the game was much closer than the last time that UTEP played at Las Cruces”. Well, what will the excuse be now that he has lost to Rice at home after beating them last year.....and losing to a coaching staff that started at the same time that he did.
Easy excuse for Dimel: They lost Kai.
I’ve seen enough from this head coach to know that this is not the answer for this program.
I REALLY want to say Dimel is a good coach. I want to say he can turn this around. But he’s the play caller and he SUCKS at calling plays. Absolute garbage. Penalties, and more penalties and a complete disaster on the defensive side of the ball. I want someone to ask Dimel what improved this year, because there is nothing that improved.

If Jim Senter isn’t going to fire Dimel he should at least relieve him of play calling duties and tell him to scrap this shit offense.

He should do the same with the defense. That unit was worse than last year. That should have been nearly impossible, but it happened.

We got way too many delay of game and false start penalties today...especially for the 12th game of the season. Canales needs to be gone as well. Dimel needs to swallow his pride and do what’s best for the program......that means that he needs to step aside and just become the recruiter/PR guy/face of the program. Then he needs to let his coordinators run the show....that’s assuming that he can get a decent coordinator to sign up for his current train wreck.

He is an awful in game manager/tactician. When your main adjustment week to week is to add more wildcat you suck.
We’re officially the worst team in FBS for two years on a row. This team showed no improvement whatsoever. Major changes are needed.
The fact that Dimel has said week in and week out that we are improved ball club says he is clueless. I was gonna say a dumbass but I’ll stick with clueless.
