Uteps NIL program

Must be the old heads acting like we have Kentucky accomplishments. I remember seeing a few NMSU fans frustrated they kept losing in the first round, look at them now. Bringing up the rear with us in DumpsterUSA
At least our we are upgrading dumpsters. Sucks to be left behind despite being the more successful program in the last 10+ years

Yes, it’s nice to be picked for once.

The sad thing is, NMSU was only picked by CUSA because they had to and it was in NMSU’s favor that UTEP was already there. Being a successful basketball team didn’t help them out, fair or not.

Yes, I am complaining they haven’t been close to being in the last 4 in, last 4 out, next 4 out, or anything close to the NCAAs in 14 years.

You like missing the NCAAs? You like not being in the conversation? You like finishing in 6th place in a bad league?
Hell no, no of us like it! Just tired of your constant negativity.

Who said there was any?
Give me four of your post about UTEP that are positive. Neither of us can answer.
We shouldn’t complain about not accomplishing anything in 10 years?

Go look through the MWC or FIU game threads if you want positive posts. Not even sure what I said that was so “negative” in this one.

But UTEP isn’t and never has been. UTEP can’t get away with charging UT prices because UT is playing Oklahoma, Kentucky, LSU, and Texas A&M. While UTEP is playing Tulsa, Western Kentucky, LaTech, and Sam Houston.

Are you suggesting UTEP should make tickets to WKU the same price as Texas does for their SEC opponents? Shouldn’t the UTEP games be cheaper?

Don't know how you jump to that conclusion/assumption.

My point is that UTEP's athletics program sucks. It's hard to get out of the downward spiral we are in with out money, in the NCAA/NIL landscape we are in. Money is hard to come by in El Paso, and even when there might be money, the people with the money want Ohio St. vs Michigan at the Sun Bowl. And by money I mean disposable income, not suggar daddies like Phil Knight, the Walton family, or T. Boone Pickens.

That’s pretty much untrue, as the Sun Bowl is consistently “near capacity” almost every year. El Pasoans have shown up for a pretty mediocre bowl since the 90s. If there’s people clamoring for Ohio St and Michigan, it’s not effecting Sun Bowl attendance.

UTEP has probably close to 10k season tickets in football and probably 3500 in basketball. That’s a lot for a school that hasn’t done much since 1992.

El Pasoans have money, not as much as other places, and you see what they do with it for a mediocre product. What if we actually had good teams??? The problem is UTEP and winning.

If the Sun Bowl was located in Horizon, it wouldn’t be full if we were #5 in the country?
It would for sure. The Sun bowl being located on the side of town, which most locals that aren’t from there don’t visit, have and will still travel to it with a winning team. If we were ranked 25th it’d be sold out imo
