Never too early 2025 football W/L prediction

I attended the EV1.Net bowl in 2004, go to Albuquerque about once a year, and the opponent will be a MWC team who may be a conference opponent for years to come. I don’t share the same enthusiasm as you might.

I was there as well. As were, I'm sure, many other 'diggers. I thought it was a good game and we were competitive even though we lost.

OPT/Game thread: UTEP (2-9) at NMSU (3-8)

I was told to stay at the airport every basketball game after the Miners went on their big run against Long Beach State after I left to go pick up my son. It looks like you'll need to hang out with your kids rather than watching the Miners all of next football season!
I think I’d be alright with that. Hopefully they’ll still wanna hang out with me 😂

I have attending any bowl on my wish list at this point to include the NM Bowl. We aren't the type of school that has the privilege of denying a bowl invite. Should we ever be a school that goes to bowl games regularly, then that's different.

Sure, but it’s not exciting. Their last 3 bowls have all been there. It’s fine, better than staying at home, but not one player or fan has attending the NM Bowl on their wish list.

Other than Duhon, and perhaps Odom and Kam Thomas, I don't think there would be a mass exodus of the returning players that contributed this year. Guys will leave for other opportunities/playing time, but I don't think many would see a big NIL market. Last year, I think it was just Hubbard and Akharaiyi who moved up.
Tyrin Smith went to Cincinnati. Another went to Oklahoma State. Multiple players went to Texas State. Full list:

Kyran Duhon only had two other FBS offers and was originally committed to UTRGV. What a get he was.

Things I Will Remember About Walden Season 1

Let me try this again. I know that this may be way out in left field, but maybe, just possibly, the reason that Killer posted a review of the season might just be because the season is now over. Crazy theory, I know.

Again, Killer traveled all the way from Texas to Idaho in the middle of winter to support the Miners in the Humanitarian Bowl. I don't know anyone else on this board who did that. I've read his posts during those all too rare seasons where our teams were actually successful, and he was as big of a cheerleader as anyone.

Here's the deal, though. In the last 19 years we've only had two winning seasons in football, and in those two seasons we were barely above .500. We haven't been to the NCAA Tournament since 2010, and that was one of only three trips since 1992. Some of you ask us not to just settle for mediocrity, as mediocrity is several levels better than what we have experienced with UTEP Athletics for decades, but to accept losing. No thank you

Everyone on this board is happy that we won a game and beat our rivals. But at the same time, many of us are unhappy that we only won three games, and that after putting up with Dimel's lousy offense for so many years we ended up with one that was even worse. Not wanting to settle for lousy football and basketball does not mean that our fandom should be questioned.

One final note. I've been on this board for 25 years. I've seen this board during Nord's first year and Price's first two years. I've seen it when Gillispie, Sadler, and Barbee brought us to the Tournament. Rather than being a ghost town because no one could complain, this board was never more alive. This included posts from all the "trolls" cheering on the team. But when we struggle with losing season after losing season, there are many of us that don't feel the urge to take the players and coaches out for ice cream after each loss because they tried really, really hard. We want wins, and are tired of putting up with the ridiculous losses every damn year.
JFC, questioning the timing of another mostly negative post after a big win against your rival, does not mean you're settling for mediocrity or accepting of another subpar season. I'm sure Killer is a great fan of UTEP athletics and wishes the team well, but just because he appears to be the only Miner fan to have attended the Who Gives a $hit Bowl in person 30 years ago, doesn't mean he's no more frustrated with ridiculous losses than anyone else here. I travel to EP once a year for a football game and a basketball weekend because I'm proud to be a Miner, not whether the teams suck or not.

As a former student who began attending football and basketball games in the late 70's, I'm just as pissed as everyone else with the state of these two programs, however, I'm not jaded enough by perpetual losing seasons to not give this team credit for a big win against NMSU. I respect most of the fans here as they seem to be supportive rain or shine, and they are certainly free to voice their opinions, but some here are constant whiners who would be better served finding another program to follow. I know this is NOT Killer, nor is it a majority of the fans here, but the minority who do so are miserable and exist here only to complain about EVERYTHING, including I'm sure, our inclusion into the NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament.
