I'm still sick to my stomach. Not since the the Southern Utah have I been so disgusted. His whole week is lost. Probably had a bunch of potential content regarding the sell out. Now, nobody wants to hear about the game or the crowd.
Yeah after Tech beat us(the crowd in the Sun bowl was the loudest noise I’ve ever heard in my life) the team fell apart. The talent though on that team was off the charts for UTEP standardsBy record they weren't the best, but I agree they were fun to watch. They stumbled and lost 5 of their last 6 games.
The 2006 team was the best. That OT loss against Texas Tech destroyed the teams morale. I believe 5 or 6 of those seniors went to the NFL and we had the talent to run with anyone. Palmer to Higgins was an incredible combo and Marcus Thomas was a beast. Darn shame
He’s too busy touting the crowd sizeHe was supposed to give us an “edge” over other mid majors too!
Yeah I don’t expect him to talk extensively about a bad loss, but he could at least acknowledge it. He’s a lot like this board. Have some fans beating their chests over Tarleton St and Sam Houston wins, but don’t acknowledge losses like last night.

If a WAC Championship Game existed in 2004, then UTEP would have been playing in it.

Fair enough but that still doesn’t even the score. To be fair, the 2005 football team was 1 win away from the Conference Championship Game.

Yup. And in the last 20 years we can compare the two programs:
NMSU Football: 3 Bowls, 2 wins, 1 Conference Championship Appearance.
UTEP Football: 4 Bowls, 0 wins, not even close to competing for a Conference Title.
NMSU Basletball: 10 NCAA Tournament Appearances, 1 Win, 9 Conference Tournament Chsmpionships, 7 Regular Season Championships
UTEP Basketball: 2 NCAA Tournament Appearances, 0 wins, 1 Conference Tournament, 1 Regular Season Chsmpionship.
As it stands right now, UTEP has no business saying they’re better than NMSU and we are lucky we are El Paso because THATS why we got in C-USA.
At this point I wouldn’t trust Wilson, Walden and Golding to run a fake jersey stall at the mall let alone handle UTEP Athletics.
Yup. And in the last 20 years we can compare the two programs:2009 was a fun basketball season and 2014 was promising, but I understand how you feel. Our whole athletic program has been sooo far behind the curve for so many years. We never catch any breaks. It's like a bad gambler who never quits. It's depressing.
Yup. They’re smart. First game of the season they’re always bringing marching bands and dance groups for halftime so their parents have to get tickets and attend.I did say consistently. They may be able to market the home opener and give away a bunch of tickets for the high school kids .

But there have only been like 4 years I’ve ever been proud to support UTEP. 1992, 2000, 2004 and 2005. They’ll tease me with a big win here and there, but after so long this sh*t is exhausting.

First, they get everyone to believe in the team. They sell out the Don for the first time in years. The excitement is in the air, and Miner fans have something to look forward, and they not only lose, they get beat down. A close loss and I would have been disappointed, but this is way more than disappointment.
Kane made a statement a day after the Miner Women Volleyball team choked away an NCAA tournament game being up 2 sets to none, and losing 3 in row, saying "Typical UTEP".
It just seems that he is right. I can't remember when any of the teams came through with a win they were not supposed to have. Louisville is an example of coming up short. We can name a bunch of basketball games where they came up short or just flat out layed an egg. The football team for the last few years, even when they had a decent team would drop that game that tested them. The Bowl games are always losses.
I am a UTEP fan, and it just kills me year after year. You want to believe, and of course support the team, but they seem to always choke or do what they did last night when the opportunity is there to finally get over the hump. This is all sports.
What is the solution? Some will say just keep blindly supporting the team year after year and I am guessing pray for a miracle change. Obviously that is not the solution, and attacking the ones that say anything else is one of the problems. I have said the Cowboy fans that do that are the issue because Jerry can just continue to do the same thing until the team is beyond being fixable.
I just am tired of always coming up short in any meaningful game in all sports. The loss last night just confirmed it again, and it does irreparable damage because it takes years to build up the backing of the team, and that kind of loss loses it in a second. Fans not supporting anymore and not coming to games is too damaging for the program. I don't want that, but change has to happen.
Oh no! Another last minute goal against Juarez?
Honestly I’m more excited this is breaking ground and happening than anything else. Stupid politicians can’t get a stadium built, can’t bring in Great Wolf Lodge, but I’ll take a cancer treatment center any day.💯 and 8106 is spot on too. I’ve seen numerous families grateful for Angel Flight services to get to Houston. To think of the families that aren’t selected, that would super disheartening in an already taxing situation.
Great news indeed!
